The Vita was a flop.
The Wii U were dead upon arrival.
The PS4, while doing everything it can and may ultimately outsell the PS3 over there, is not coming close to it.
And the Switch JUST came out.
I'm talking about launch specifically up to this point, and the Switch is neck-and-neck thus far and would be beating the 3DS convincingly if there was enough supply to meet demand.

Yeah. The ps4 just isn't holding up in japan. The ps3 did that much espite the competition of the wii and the small but significant portion of 360s, and the vita, while the smaller, more 'mature' idie devs ate desperatly holding on to the vita for 3 years of it being essentially stagnated.

With the switch set on replacing the 3DS, it literally has no worthy compeditor in japan. Its as simple as that.
