Launch week

Seriously, the XBO has only sold slightly over 70k total in Japan. I think even the 360's launch week was bigger then XBO combined sales

Updated, Switch is less than 100k behind 3DS launches behind now

Unless the sales stay at the level of last week, it will drop to over 100k again next week

To note, the 3DS gets a pricecut sometime in the summer in the same time frame (I remember August). That's when things will get interesting. Switch is doing great so far but I'm not sure it will get to the heights of the 3DS during its first 3 years.

Note first year 3DS it sold 4.3 million with almost 1.6 million units sold in December that year after 3D Land, MK7 and MH hit in the holidays. If the Switch can sell 3 million I think it does an excellent job.

Disappointed in Nintendo. I get that it's not easy to calculate stock ... but 20ks only for Japan? For almost a month now? Really?

Do they ever have meetings beforehand where they discuss what to do if a product is more successful than their internal tracking indicates? Because it just seems like they are completely caught with their pants down every time this happens without any kind of back up plan.

I think the reason is A)Holding stock for Splatoon and B)Competing for flash memory with other manufacturers. I do agree Nintendo has an issue with Supply Chain Management. They had similar issues with amiibo and the NES Classic. It's something they do need to get a hold off.

Without Stock shortages the Switch would be rubbing shoulders with the Wii and PS2 I would imagine.
