PS4 games lead console war in 2017 by a long way!

PS4 games dominate the best console games of 2017, while Xbox One fails to keep up with the exclusive games so far.

2017 is already proving to be a fantastic year for gamers with numerous titles that have received high critical acclaim among players and journalists alike both on PS4 and Xbox One.

What’s interesting, however, is that six of those games rated the highest on review-aggregator OpenCritic are being played on PS4, with only one title from Xbox One making the top 10.

Looking at the scores across the top 20 highest rated games of 2017, Xbox One does fair a little better however. Five games in total, including Halo Wars 2, make the top 20 compared to 11 on PS4.

Here’s the run-down so far:

1.Nioh PS4
2 Horizon PS4
3 Resi 7 Multi
4 Yakuza 0 PS4
5 Hatsune Miku PS4
6 DQ VIII 3DS
7 A Normal Lost Phone PC
8 Semispheres PC/PS4
9 She Remembers Caterpillars PC
10 Aliens Go Home PC
11 Gravity Rush 2 PS4
12 Limelight PC
13 2064 Read Only Memories PS4/PC
14 CandLeman XBOX
15 Tales of Beseria PS4/PC
16 Sniper Elite IV MULTI
17 Atelier Shalie VITA
18 Halo Wars 2 XBOX/PC
19 For Honor MULTI
20 Poochy and Yoshi’s Wooly World 3DS

So, breaking that down it down by platform it’s:

  • PS4 - 11 games
  • PC - 11 games
  • XBOX - 5 games
  • 3DS -2 games
  • VITA -1 games

Now, let's put that into a lovely pie-chart.

It’s the PS4 exclusives that are setting Sony apart from its Microsoft’s competitors so far, and there’s still plenty more to come, including, Nier:Automata, Persona 5, Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.

So games on the console that has sold 54 million thus far are selling better than games on the console that has sold 28 million thus far?

Shocking.

Sony has been doing great with exclusives lately though.

edit: ah, I thought it was sales not reviews.

The critical reception of their exclusive titles also appear to be better. That's what this article is about.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

This is about review scores, not sales.

Yeah, Nioh and Horizon have gotten great reviews. I personally don't have an interest in them currently, i'm too busy playing other games on my PS4 and Steam, but it's nice that people are enjoying them.

Yeah, I see that now. I thought it was talking about sales at first cause I read through that really quickly.

Awfully convenient that PC got left out of the pie chart when it drew with PS4

They couldn't find an official PC logo.

Still waiting for that Wii U surge though, I have credible sources telling me its got this in the bag.

The title is "console war" and it talks about "console games", so...

This is the number of games, not the number of games sold or are you saying it's OK for the XB1 too have fewer games because it has a smaller userbase? I don't think anyone could justify less investment for their consumers using that metric. I suppose there's an outside chance that you're just admitting that the PS4 has sold more because it has more games, which I could agree with.

The PS5 Exists.
