Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Switch Can't Connect to Internet Authentication-Required WiFi (Update: Day 1 update adds feature)

No big deal honestly, this feature is coming with the day 1 update:

That's pretty bad for a handheld, hopefully nintendo realizes the mistake and adds an internet browser soon.

Edit: from the comment above looks like they will patch it day 1 so problem solve (minus not having internet browser )

Ok Solved xD

Is this an oversight? Or is this just nintendo being nintendo? At any rate, I thought the browser wasn't really necessary, but I didn't account for this. Hopefully there's something in the first update that'll fix this.

While this is a good news for some ppl, how are you gon download this patch if all of the internet connection around you require authentication?

Hardcore fans will still find the way to defend this.

This is why Nintendo keeps making rookie mistakes, because nobody calls them out.

I respect XBox fans for calling out Microsoft on their terrible policies prior to the release of the XB1. But sadly this won't be the case with the Switch, it will be flawed and nobody will do anything to fix it.

It's not really solved cos you still need to connect to internet the very first time. Some ppl live in college and apt building that require authentication to connect to the internet

While I can see that being a potential problem, I don't think it's likely for someone to only have access to authentication-only WiFi. Also, worst-case scenario, you can just use a USB-to-Ethernet adapter and update it via TV Mode.

That's most likely the final solution, but seriously this is a really bad oversight. I guess everyone is finally adopting that day1 patch nowdays
