Even without Japanese games the PS4 has a larger library of exclusives than the Xbox One.

But that's really besides the point. Since this whole idea that Japanese games don't matter is little more than a defense mechanism for wounded egos.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

A game is a game regardless of its country of origin.

1- this guy just saw Horizon getting good rewiews - may be not GOTY worth

2- He than pulls from his memory a few new games of both platform. Has he played them? Or just hersay?

3- He thinks "Wow, Sony has so many new franchises and MS only its top tier franchises".

4- He starts writing the article, than go to a quick google search and see some of older Xone exclusives that unfortunetly didn´t delived.... and igore the other few PS4 games that failed - 1886, Knack, Killzone SF, Life of Black Tiger, Beyond Two Souls...

5- So, he reworks the text to include those games "en passant", however, the spirit of the article remains.

So true. Of course, the real problem is MS is tightening the purse strings on the Xbox division, so Xbox is going to be taking fewer and fewer risks. I think Spencer has really put all his remaining eggs into the Scorpio basket. It's kinda evident when that's all they are really talking about, now. It's also one of the reasons he went over to Japan to port beg for Japanese games. Everything is going to be lined up for the Scorpio launch to try and show it does have diversity and power. Of course, there's a couple problems with this.

For one, I doubt there are going to be that many devs who want to take the time and money to port their games to the XBO when they barely sell anything on it. Even if a couple of them do, there will still be so many games the XBO is missing, including Japanese/Western exclusives, whether 1st or 3rd party. And with the PS4/Pro having such a lead over the XBO/Scorpio, will devs take even more time developing specifically for the Scorpio? Or will that basically see Pro ports with little to no upgrades?

In terms of power, MS has to really hit the Scorpio out of the park to even do any significant damage to the PS4/Pro. If they go the cheaper route to get the thing to $399, it's not going to be that big of a leap over the Pro, which isn't going to sway many consumers, especially with a $299-$349 Pro out. Of course, if they go with a more powerful solution, they are going to have to charge ~$499 for the thing, which is definitely not a price point people are going to pay for a mid-gen upgrade, again, especially with a $299-$349 Pro out. There's also the fact that the PS5 will be out a couple of years after the Scorpio launches, with possible rumors of it surfacing in 2018, which is going to eclipse the Scorpio's power.

In the end, if Scorpio fails to change anything, I think MS is really going to consider downsizing the Xbox division, possibly merge it with MS Studios, to where its only focus is to make games and peripherals for the PC. If they don't do it after the Scorpio, they will 100% do it if the XB2 fails to outsell the XBO.

It always reminds me of Scalebound cancellation everytime i think about Xbox exclusive. I was pissed when i knew Scalebound was exclusive to X1, but i didn't know i could be more pissed. Scalebound looks like Devil May Cry with dragons, it looks fun.

I have to say after reading the whole thread, it's quite hilarious for Xbox fans to dismiss Japanese games, as if only Japanese gamers play them (they don't.) Uh, wasn't it your man Spencer who just went over there to beg for ports of those games you say don't count? I guess they must count for something if he made a special trip over there.

First, I don´t ever said "Japanese games don´t matter". They do matter, it is just that there is basicaly nothing Microsoft can do to capture this audience and round those developers. The best they could get was Recore, and God knows how much they sinked on Scalebound.

Those developers don´t even bother speak english.

Two, doing the math for the big budget games worth counting (or do you want to include "Life of Black Tiger"and other on the list?), the Bloodborne, Nioh, Ninokune, Yakuza.. etc do shift the numbers in favour of Sony.

Semi-valid points.

Care to explain why XB1 doesn't has a SINGLE exclusive that received a MC of higher than 85? Every game on Metacritic for XB1 that received higher than an 85 is also available of 360, PC, PS4, or some combination of the above, whereas PS4 has five true exclusives in that range?
