Yes, there are outlets, but that makes the device no longer portable. It turns into a device that tethers you to a wall. Checkout this link and scroll down to the shot of the Switch and WiiU thickness comparisons: http://kotaku.com/nintendo-switch-the-size-comparison-1791177092 The solution also lies in convincing companies (in this case Nintendo) that device thinness shouldn't be prioritized over battery life. Functionality vs aesthetics. |
I don't agree. Would you tell someone charging their phone in a public outlet that their phone isn't portable? Obviously it is. They're just taking AC power while it's avaialble to preserve it for later.
Sitting next to a wall and gaming is a bit much maybe, but having a USBC cord plugged into a chair outlet or a table top outlet in an airport doesn't change the experience. Yes, you're plugged in, but you're sitting where you would be anyway.
Too me, making the Switch as bulky as the GamePad would hamper portability from my perspective. The Switch being thin (and uniformly thin) makes it reasonable to throw into a sleeve and stuff into my backpack. Space is at a premium when I pack for trips. The Switch easily makes the cut for something to put in my onboard personal item whereas the GamePad would not.
