Forums - Gaming Discussion - Switch battery life: 2h 48m when playing Zelda

Won't be an issue for me since I would never use it handheld but that's a pretty poor battery life though. Then again; most phones have pretty poor batteries as well, and there are things like mobile chargers for travel, but it's still more kit you need to buy yourself and could dissuade some from seeing it as a viable handheld option just yet.

Time will tell.

And there were people here asking for more power, higher resolution and... 1 hour of battery life.

That's pretty epic actually. Shit if I stayed ob Vgchartz for 2hrs 39mins straight my phone would die lol. It's even better than my laptop. Surely that can't be right

Wait so the approximate battery life is about the same as was told a little over a month prior? Let's act absoultely shocked!

...

That isn't a long period of time, but playing a big size game like Zelda on the go for that long seems pretty good to me. I imagine lesser demanding games will be able to play for longer.

This. The hypocrisy and bias around here has reached ridiculous levels. Has anyone of those who are complaining ever tried playing a demanding 3D game on their laptops or smartphones? I doubt there are many portable devices that can run a demanding 3D game for more than 3 hours straight.

Your next portable folks! ;p

Still doubting that the Switch can be used as a portable console? With that logic, the 3DS ain't a portable either, it also had a battery life of 3 - 5 hours, depending on the games fidelity: https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Support/Nintendo-3DS-2DS/FAQ/Hardware/How-long-does-the-battery-last-/How-long-does-the-battery-last--242771.html

Less demanding games (f.e. the next Ace Attorney, Prof. Layton, Animal Crossing, Pokemon, visual novels...) will probably have a better battery life than similar games on a 3DS XL.

And there are portable chargers op.

well, luckily it has a USB-C charging port, so if its really a big deal you can just buy a cheap portable charger and extend the battery by a few hours.

Aaaaand this should end the debate of why Nintendo calls it a home console now.
