Forums - Politics Discussion - Trump revokes Obama guidelines on transgender bathrooms

Now there's no way for me to verify if she's telling the truth but it's really not hard to believe:

Right now transgender people use the restroom they identify with. Can any person here tell me they've seen a transgender person in a public bathroom while you were in there? Be honest!

Well to be fair...and I am just pointing this out here......it is a choice to be a transgender.....so would that be ignorant to say?

Mind you as a straight male I see it as to each his/her own and do as you please. But being a transgender is 99% of the time a choice that someone consciously makes.

Well, I disagree with you.

It's the same as it is not your or my choice to be heterosexual. We are just made that way.

So I have read those before and found them to be very interesting reads. Ka-pi just enlightened me though! When I thought of "transgender" I assumed it was the same as "transexual" someone who has undergone surgery and changed they genitalia from either male parts to female parts or vice versa(which is the choise I was referring to). But I was incorrect transgender is someone who identifies with being male or female despite the gender that they are born.

We care about bathrooms again?

The president cares, so all of America should care. Must have something to do with national security.

He cares in that he'll leave it up to the individual states to decide. I guess that's caring by virtue of not making a decision on it?

Or they could just use the family bathroom/unisex bathroom that is most places.

This is a issue that affects all people so states shouldn't even have shit to say about it. But that's another isue anyway.

Really? Well then I am WAY out of the loop lol. I thought a transgender was someone that went out and had surgery and changed their body parts. So it is just someone who feels trapped in the wrong body whether they do something about it or not?

Not 100% sure but I think so. I've always known transsexuals to be ones that have actually had surgery to change their sex and transvestites as ones that dress as the opposite sex but haven't actually changed. The term transgender is still pretty new to me.

And as for your previous post, yeah that's what I'm saying. People should use the one that their body fits in with, for the most part that should also be the one people are comfortable with anyway. The only issue I can see is people that haven't actually changed sex yet. Probably more of an issue with schools as in this case since there may well be age requirements for actually having a sex change (don't know if there are, but I'd assume there is).

See I mixed all the terms together I have to be sure to correct that when discussing these things going forward! And yes the school thing I can clearly see. Especially having a son and a daughter myself. That is indeed a very interesting scenario. But yeah I figured that was what you were saying in your post to begin with. Not sure how it got dragged on so long lol.

Yep. That´s the point. Imagine a man that wants to use the woman´s bathroom just because he´s using women´s clothes, acessories and have a feminine personality.  Although all those measures, he´s still a man.

If the person already passed through  surgical procedures, documents  replacement etc. then there´s nothing to discuss about. They just need to use the proper bathroom for "their current sexual situation".

I mean hey to each his/her own. But I am with Ka-pi I don't see what the issue or big deal is. Heterosexual males/females are not able to go whatever restroom they feel like so I it should be the same all around. Nothing wrong with that. This is such a sensitive subject as is. Because again I have NOTHING against. transgenders, transexuals, homosexuals or lesbians but when it comes to issues like these unless you are transexual and have had that surgery then I don't see what the big deal is. Even then it isn't a big deal if you think about it.

Why should LBGT people get more rights than non-LGBT people?

I've never seen any unisex bathrooms yet, but I think all bathrooms should be like that.
