Forums - Politics Discussion - Trump revokes Obama guidelines on transgender bathrooms

He is right, this is a state's issue, not a federal one.

I - for one - do not think people who were born a male should be allowed in a bathroom for people who were born females.

I noticed how you hate one of the most progressive political figure of our time; and what policies do you specifically hate?

To those saying that Obama was a weak leader militarily, need to brush up on current news. Here are some of the top Al-Qaeda and ISIS operatives fallen to US under Obama's directive leadership:

And Trump's first attempt at covert ops with on a grand scale resulted in death of a Navy Seal, a lot of civilian casualties and a strain of relations with one of our big allies in ME, Yemen.
That's just pathetic.

- He was a war hawk

- He imprisoned more whistleblowers than anyone before him

- He deported more Mexicans than anyone before him

- He was soft on the banks and bailed them out while millions of people lost their homes

- Authorized drone attacks that killed thousands of innocent people

There's also the fact that he's a capitalist, and that he is there to make sure that the status quo is maintained. He obviously did not support the elimination of the capitalism and its replacement with socialism.

-Obama is far from War hawk. The guy wanted to close Guantanamo and reduced the US military population in Iraq from over 100.000 to mere 1000's advisors and military security details. The guy didn't start any war and he did a lot to phase out our participation in full fledged wars.

-I love whistleblowers but the peoblem is that in the process of this noble selfless act, some information can get operatives killed if not properly filtered. Chelsea Manning was released after investigations found out that her batch of info didn't compromise NatSec.

-I'll need more info on the Mexicans deportation. Also, I wanna be clear here, no one would be deported with proper documents or if they didn't commit serious crime. I'll leave it at that.

-The thing about Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP), is that it was created by Bush administration. Also, they hold a lot of US debt.

-When Obama took office, drone program was in its infancy and took quite a while to perfect its accuracy. It is a stain in his legacy, even though now the program is accurate and clinical as ever.

Are you serious about him promoting socialism? One of the reasons Bernie is seen as blasphemous is because he supports socialist ideas and that rings alarms in the American minds. Where are you from?

With this sort of poorly thought thought through act, I am unfortunately waiting for the seemingly inevitable news story where a trans man like the one above enters the women's toilet as the law mandates and is then confronted and attacked (possibly shot) as he is seen by an unaware bystander who would assume he has gone in there with a malicious intent.

I hope it doesn't happen and a more workable solution is a arrived at under better circumstances, but given social attitudes in certain swathes of America and that the current situation is viewed as 'common sense' by many I don't hold out that much hope.

- And he didn't close it. He also got involved militarily in countries that Bush wasn't even a part of, msot notably Libya where NATO intervened

- While Chelsea Manning may be getting out soon, that was after she underwent torture and there are still people who are in jail from whistleblowing

- Proof that Obama deported more people than anyone else: http://www.wusa9.com/news/local/verify-did-obama-deport-more-people-than-any-other-president/408785995

- And the thing is Obama and the Democrats had two years with a majority in both chambers, specifically during the peak of the economic crisis, so they could have done something about it if they really wanted to

And Bernie Sanders didn't really promote socialism, he promoted what he called "democratic socialism" (which was in reality social democracy), he supported the continuation of the American state and of the capitalist economic system. As for me, I was born in Michigan and have American citizenship, but I've lived in Canada for most of my life (I also have Canadian citizenship).

What do you mean why? It's pretty self explanatory.

It is not. That is the problem. While biological sex can be easily determined, aligning that description with gender... Does not work. This discussion tends to never end.

While I do not have any opinion about this issue - as I did not do researches nor calculations - It is amusing to see people thinking about criminals abusing it. Because they totally held up the law before this existed.

-Ofcourse he didn't close Guantanamo. It wasn't in the interest of Congress, Intelligence Community or Republicans. Also, it was naive of Obama to try to insist to get it done through bipartisan efforts.

-Other than Manning, who else is still there? And like I said, retrieving government top secret info won't get you free pass to walk no matter what, without being cleared.

-So you're against deportation of illegal immigrants?

-Like I said, banks hold a huge percentage of US debt. Even with majorities in chambers, there's little they could do.

If the banks had not get bailed out, it would've caused a domino effect of banks falling up to the top banks. People would've made runs to the banks and most people's savings and money would've been rendered useless. Shadow economy would've settled, there would be no money for firms to lend to start up, expand or stop lay offs. You'll have to forget about debit and credit cards and socially that would lead to rise in burglaries as money are would be stored in "mattresses".

Bro, anything related to socialism socialism or even worse communism is shot down here. Cancer cure could be a communism invention and it would be shot down.

I honestly don't think it is.  If it's for the comfort of those going to the bathroom I don't think the trans man going into the women's bathroom or the cis women in there will be comfortable with that situation.  On the other hand, if a trans woman goes into a women's bathroom the likely won't ever know.  So is it some religious thing?  Do you think trans people are likely to cause issues, and if so what data do you have to show they cause such an issue that this should be legislated?

http://www.salon.com/2015/04/25/7_whistleblowers_facing_more_jail_time_than_general_petraeus_partner/

- I'm against the existence of states and borders in general. I support a stateless, classless world, so yes I am against Obama deporting them, because they're mainly just trying to seek a better life

- Well, the banks failing would mainly have hurt people with a lot of savings, in other words richer people as most people don't have really any money at all in the bank. If the banks failed the many people who became homeless would instead just own their houses

Yes, I realize that socialism/communism is viewed negatively in the United States. Obama wants to keep it that way too, because he's a multimillionaire with a lot of influence and corporate backing. That's why he's not on my side, and why I'll never support him.
