Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Early Lineups: 3DS in 2011 vs Switch in 2017

I don't care about portability in Zelda, that's a game I'll be exclusively playing on the big screen. And the sounds, well I guess that's a nice touch (even if I can't understand why the Wii U couldn't have high quality sounds too), but I'm sure I won't notice it if I haven't touched the Switch version yet.

And lol rolling over people. Yeah that might not be meta anymore, but rollers are still OP as hell (and now I'll leave because I know you don't take to this very well).

Well alright, enjoy the lesser version!

Sike, for Dynamo's I can totally understand that, though I won't go as far as to say they're OP, but they're definitely the single most annoying weapon for me to deal with. Part of me hopes Splatoon 2 drops them, but another part hopes they stay since they're such a unique weapon.

I get your point, but this is the same as calling Kinect Adventures and Nintendo Land a major release. I have no problem with that, but 1-2 switch should also be declared a major title, shall it become a success like Wii Sports(not on that level, of course).

1-2-Switch will struggle to even sell a million, though.

...or at least that's what I think.

Doubtfull. COMG preorders already has the game at 125 points (final points to first week is usually stringer than 1 - 1000), a 200k launch seems likely, for Japan only, so I don't see it doing less than a million lifetime worldwide.

Bet with PeH:

I win if Arms sells over 700 000 units worldwide by the end of 2017.

Bet with WagnerPaiva:

I win if Emmanuel Macron wins the french presidential election May 7th 2017.

Oh yes you can be sure I'll enjoy it... a lot.

Dynamo is quite OP, but I think Carbon is even worse (as in, better). Even regular roller is OP imo, though it's definitely the most bearable of the bunch.

Now that's an interesting view of the rollers, why do you say they're OP?

I think we should take another look at this at E3. Nintendo have suggested in their Switch press launch packs there are more surprises waiting for 2017, and I still think it's quite likely that Pokemon Stars will be confirmed for Switch at E3. The one two of Pokemon Stars/Mario Odyssey should be on a par with (or bigger than) Kart 7 and 3D Land for 3DS. Additionally, Nintendo of Europe's press pack reiterates that Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is coming this year, so I would put that down for Q4 as well.

Shovel Knight (with the new campaign) and Fast RMX are launch titles for the Switch.

I was trying to focus on the relative highlights. Shovel Knight, though a gem of a game, has been released on enough platforms to make it a relatively minor release on launch day. And Fast RMX is an indie game in a niche genre.

Specter of Torment will release first on the Nintendo Switch. It only releases in April on the other consoles.

And I'll gladly take Shovel Knight and Fast RMX over Nintendogs + Cats, Pokémon Rumble, Steel Diver or Pilotwings... Fast RMX has a much higher production value than all those games combined.

Because a Carbon Roller can OHKO anyone with a 11-frame attack, which is factually impossible to react to. That attack also has a huge hitbox (like any rollers, because they're rollers) and not as little range as people make it out to have.

It's already confirmed every main weapon from Splatoon 1 will return in 2 (though maybe with different subs/specials), but I guess at least with the change that rollers flick vertically in the air, that makes them a bit more bearable, since they can't just jump and attack for a gigantic horizontal hitbox that hits everywhere and is impossible to avoid.

And well, other than the hitbox, regular Carbon Roller also has great ink coverage, and can cover their range issue very well with Burst Bombs (one of the best subs in the game) and Inkzooka (definitely the best special in the game).

Well you're not gonna like what I'm about to say then! The vertical flick, at worst, changes nothing actually. The horizontal flick is still there and can still be done in the air, you just have to press the jump button after you've started to flick, which is generally what Dynamos and Splat Rollers do anyway, while Carbons are generally better off not jump flicking. Rollers can still do everything they could before, but now they have an option that makes them not meh at trailblazing and gives them more range, not that the Dynamo needs anymore range lel. That's also why the Dynamo is debateable OP, because with the Carbon and Splat Rollers you have to work and be very careful to get into range which balances out the undodgeable hitbox. The Dynamo however is an undodgeable hitbox that outranges half the game, giving the many weapons of equal or less range very few options against it.
