I'm just realizing...we're getting a Mario and Zelda both in the same damn year, when was the last time that happened?

If you're talking about full-scale, home console games, it was 2002 with Super Mario Sunshine and Wind Waker... but only in Japan.

The original Nintendogs alone has sold more than twice as much as every Star Fox game combined.

Nintendogs on 3DS has sold more than any individual Star Fox game.

Nintendogs on 3DS has sold over 4 million, Star Fox on 3DS has sold less than 1 million.

I get your point, but this is the same as calling Kinect Adventures and Nintendo Land a major release. I have no problem with that, but 1-2 switch should also be declared a major title, shall it become a success like Wii Sports(not on that level, of course).

Well I don't think it would be a stretch to say that Kinect Adventures & Nintendo Land were major releases.

The difference is that Kinect Adventures & Nintendo Land were both mass bundled while Nintendogs+Cats was not.

N+C sold that well because people wanted it while it is unknown how many people wanted KA/NL and instead got it simply because it came with the hardware.

I also just realize much the first year of the 3DS we are getting Zelda, Mario, and Mario Kart though one of them this a port and two is a brand new game. Zelda being the port on the 3DS and Mario Kart being the port on the Switch.

1-2-Switch will struggle to even sell a million, though.

...or at least that's what I think.

You're right, but I think being there at launch specifically will save the game, as people who are not interested in Zelda might pick up the game simply because the pickings are slim at launch.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Switch wins and we don't even know all the games coming for it this year.

Yeah, that's what I meant.

2015 with Super Mario Maker and Tri Force Heroes.
...or if you don't count those as proper Mario and Zelda, 2013 with Super Mario 3D World and A Link Between Worlds.

Now if you're talking both big console games, then I really have no idea.

Ya 2013 had both but they were also on 2 separate platforms. To find both on the same platform you would have to go back to Wii.

Twilight Princess and Mario Galaxy didnt release in the same calender year but they released within 12 months of one another. TP-Nov 2006, SMG-Nov 2007.

I dont think so.Its a launch game, so for better or worse there is going to be a good number of people that will pick this up, then there is the whole lifespan of the Switch to sell this game. And finally, but not less important, I think that Nintendo will eventually bundle this game.

All in all, I think this will easily pass 1 million units.Wether it deserves it or not, its an entirely different question.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Switch line-up is definitely better for me, which is why I'll be getting one this year instead of a year and a half later like I did for 3DS. Splatoon being the GOAT also helps a lot!

Same here, I'm getting Switch day one while I waited like 7 months to get a 3DS and over a year to get a Wii U.
