Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Switch Hype. Is it real? or is it just hope?

Is the high attach rate of the nintendo switch:

Because NS is a magical machine 98 42.61%

Because Fans really want it to succeed 132 57.39%

Total:230

I mean, is the higher (than the WiiU)attach rate of the switch because is a real revolutionary system, a game changing device, or is this hype a product of the fans really hoping this new console succeed? What is your opinion on this?

For me, the high number of preorders means the fans really want this to be the next Nintendo Hit.

Well I think many people want the Switch to succeed. A gaming future without Nintendo sounds awful.

a portable system is definitely needed on which you can play big budget games. so yes the hype is real.

I think it's good for the whole gaming industry that the Switch succeeds, more competition, more games, more development, more EVERYTHING!!!

The hype is real, but we still have hope mixed with it.

I don't know. MY hype is real, though. I'm taking vacation from work just to play it.

I don't think it is just hope. It seems to be legit. Unless someone is playing games with us and is repeatly searching Switch.

Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems! UPDATE: This is no longer true

I mean never did I ever think a handheld could be powerful enough to be capable of running such games, a few years ago the idea would be science fiction.

Where are the stats for the attach rate? Or do you just mean preorders?

I think the hype is real. It's just going to be on Nintendo to manage their release schedule both with games that are ready and those that are still in development. Of course the third parties will need to step up their game and actually support the system with passion instead of half hearted attempts.

The Wii U launched with 34 games. The Switch is launching with 10 games and still has a higher attach rate even when you include Nintendo Land in Wii U bundles. I think that speaks for itself; the hype is definitely real.

And really, if your explanation is that Nintendo fans are just buying a bunch of games because they want the Switch to succeed, why wouldn't that have also applied to the Wii U? If Nintendo fans are way more excited for the Switch, that just shows how much better of a product it is.
