Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony's big holiday 2017 title?

Sony doesn't care about big holiday exclusives. Almost every year people on forums talk about Sony not having any exclusives during the holidays

I think your definition of "every year" is a little short-memory. Sure the last couple of years haven't been great, but lacking holiday exclusives is not the majority of years.

2013: Killzone Shadowfall, Knack, Gran Turismo 6, Ratchet & Clank: Nexus, Beyond Two Souls

2014: DriveClub, LittleBigPlanet 3

2015: None

2016: The Last Guardian

Only God of War could fill that gap, but I don't think it's coming this year. Actually, it's scaring to launch anything near Red Dead Redemption 2. They'll probably launch some of these games earlier (GT, Spiderman, Detroit) and let the holiday season for thirdies.

GTsport can feel that gap.

Having looked over this thread and seeing stuff i even missed, its impressive the amount of exclusives PS4manages to have all year round. Good stuff. Like i just remembered Ni no kuni

Maybe I underestimate the popularity of racing games because I'm not a big fan, maybe because I get used to yearly Forza titles, but I don't think that GT is THAT big as a new console and the first holiday of another new console.

But I agree with the part of the amount of exclusives. I always end up discovering new PS4 exclusives that I will miss for not having a PS4.

GOD of War one week before Scorpio Hits.

That's a good question, I would love if it was the spider-man game but we'll find out for sure at E3.

Do you think we sony's big holiday title is an already anounced game? God of War, Detroit, maybe FF vii remake part one...or could it be a game that we still didn't know, and sony will anounce it at e3? With microsofts scorpio and nintendos switch sony for sure has to pull out a big game (i know there wouldn't be only one, but normally there is always one game that steals the show). But what game could fit this role?

i would think that sony will still anounce the big holiday 2017 title at e3...

-Uncharted Lost Legacy, seriously why do people keep forgetting this? It's going to be one of the biggest exclusives in the holidays.

-GT Sport

-Dreams?

One of the following will release this year:

Spiderman
God of War
Days Gone

My money is on God of War.

GoW coming out in the month of march has become a tradition. I could be wrong but I fully expect GoW and Detroit to come out in Q1 2018 the same way both studios released their flagship titles in Q1 2010. Spiderman and Days Gone seem too far off, should be their Fall/Winter big game of 2018. Otherwise what's left for that time slot? I expect Days Gone to receive the same care and attention as Horizon, it's probably gonna be huge and story heavy. They'll focus on it once the other games are out the door.  Spiderman spring/summer, Days Gone late fall.

My guess would be God of War.

see above

Mustn't be a first party ip. FF vii remake would be for sure a heavy hitter, and maybe sony would help SE to reach that goal

Wow, you really want to see the world burn, don't you? If Scorpio doesn't have good exclusives at launch, that would kill it.

If spiderman comes out the holiday after the movie which may make a billion (you're welcome Disney keep those $50m checks coming) it could be UUUUUUUUUGE!

plus all those titles that came out during the year can still be incentives to buy it during the holidays.  For instance I'm not buying a Switch until the holidays at least, yet Zelda is a reason I'm going to eventually buy it.  I will wait till then though because it'll probably be bundled and have other games with it that will together make me want to buy the system more.  Trust your audience to remember that other games than those released during the holidays come out companies!  Sony does and it seems to be working.

Gran turismo is just as big as Halo

Sony doesn't care about holiday anymore, they let the heavy 3rd party deal do the work and fight to death against each other in that time, how do you not understand this after the 3 years of ps4 i don't know
