Phil should just stop congratulating Sony games, fans take it as an insult anyway!

- Great hair! ;)
- What?!? You don't congratulate me on my weight? You think I'm fat! (runs and cries)

SMH

Actually, in the beginning I thought it was refeshing, until Microsoft followed up their "good will" with a shady twitter response to Sony's PS4 Pro launch in an attempt to devalue the pro. As someone else said, mixed messages, which sours any congratulation that Phil would later give. Once again, Its good that its happening, but after that its reasonable to question the value at this point.

Hmm... the way I see this is Phil compliments a game from Guerilla Games. The other tweet (that I didn't read) is about PS4 Pro not Horizon. Phil likes games and doesn't seem to care on what platform they are and he will give credits when due. PS4 Pro has nothing to do with complementing Horizon, while one is tremendous work by Guerilla Games the other could be considered as an "half assed upgrade that's missing features" but Horizon would still deserve the praise. At least that's my point of view.

Phil Spencer isn't the marketing dude, if he says he likes a PS4 games doesn't mean that he shits on Sony with an Xbox ad. He doesn't sit there and doing the marketing, other people are responsible for that.

I truly miss the 90's era console wars. Considering there are entire books written about that time, I think it's safe to say it's not just me who thinks it was more interesting when companies actually cared enough to fight for their position. Watching everyone cuddle and be friendly is not interesting lol

Sigh. The good old days. When it was common to brand a console/platform with homegrown Interlectual Property and character genres by cultivated studios, not just by buying a few game franchises, while burying other established IPs because they dont fit into the business agenda, while some smug guys doing cheap social media PR.

Hunting Season is done...

Welp, he did it once and now hes back to do it again. He congratulated Sony on Bloodborne, he congratulated Sony on Uncharted 4 and now on Horizon. This completes the hat trick of congratulations. Such a great guy, but for some reason it almost feels forced since Microsoft threw shade at Sony's efforts with the PS4 pro with the Xbox S responses to Sonys lack of true 4k. Despite his efforts to say there is no console war, Microsoft sure has a weird and passive aggressive way of selling their product in response to Sony. Proof that there will always be a console war. Anyway, Hopefully he inspires his division to make better exclusives so Sony can congratulate him more. I have a feeling that Phil is going to congratulate Sony once again once God of War drops. LOL

Weird he didn't congratulate them on Gravity Rush 2 or Last Guardian.

Proof Phil doesn't care about anything that's original and which doesn't have guns and swords? Pretty telling if u ask me.

Or maybe he only mentions games which are praised by critics and not only considered one of hundreds of "average" games?

That would be the logical conclusion and not "he only likes games with guns and swords, that's why he doesn't praise every single PS4 exclusive"

I mean, there has to be some line to which he praised and which not. He also didn't praise Killzone ot The Order as much as I know... (ok, they are older but also less critical acclaimed, who knows what he would have said about a 90 Metascore The Order because of the score)

Uhm, both Gravity Rush and Last Guardian are praised by critics. Not sure why u bring up KZSF and Order, those games weren't received well.

If he congrats Sony in every exclusive game that score above 80 he going to be boring because he must doing it every month :)

He just say ''hey im here! remember i attack Sony because we have true 4k that noone have seen yet? ok now im here again to say good for Sony but we buy the exclusive from everyone else"

Im not confused at all. I think you're reading into what I am saying further than you should. I considered it a passive aggressive attack as a whole, since it actions by the company represent the company. One person says one thing and another person says another. At the end of the day Sony was right to call them out on their passive aggressive behavior when they were trying to bring about good faith in the spirit of competition. Despite that though, I still think Phil will continue to congratulate Sony and the only exclusive Microsoft has that could possibly wow if done right (for now) is Crackdown. Lets hope they dont moneyhat another third party game, because like the 360 gen eventually they will run out of luck and have no one to give them high profile titles in the latter years. Last gen they were winning as well and still managed to have a slight drought in the last two years.

If im confused, so is Sony. They respond to PR as is.

This is bad when any console maker does it not just MS. Or are you trying to say Sony cant be accused of doing the same thing this gen?.

Sony even used ownership of one of their Movie IP's (Spiderman) to keep the new Spiderman game on their console. Imo this is worse then money hatting some unknown IP or having timed exclusive rights to an IP.

Marvel should really work on getting Spiderman back from Sony imo.

And make another crappy Spiderman game at least this spiderman actually looks promising. Besides they pretty much pay for the development of the game. And the game is developed by insomniac which mostly is a Sony Dev anyway except for a flop and sunset overdrive which was also a commercial flop.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

I think it is you who is twisting my words. When I said I dont know how to weigh the pros and cons of the argument I was referring to, it was in context to the sentence which came before that, which was clearly about their priorities with a second console (Since there is no need for one) vs exclusives. I was admitting that I cannot ultimatley get into Microsoft head to understand their logic when they are supposedly trying to prop up their PC market. It just makes no sense at all.

I said, if Microsoft can develop a second console...it is telling about how much free reign they have within the division. Microsoft is fighting a petty battle over graphics, to distract from their glaring issues, which are exclusives. But again...the only thing I admitted I was confused about was their priorities.

Do you believe the was a need for PS4Pro?.

Sony is no longer invested in PC (the way they used to be) and Microsoft came into the console industry because they believed Sony to be a threat to the console/multimedia market. They spent so much time tailing Sony that they forgot their original objective  of propping up the PC market. Sony made the PS4 pro to help enthusiasts find some reason to not go to PC. That is never really going to happen, but microsofts reasons for making the Scorpio are even more odd since they are looking to meld the PC and console realm. If they are using sonys logic for the Scorpio, it's contradictory to their PC endeavors where they are trying to encourage multiplatforming gaming between PC and console  with the Xbox brand.

Yeah, something's wrong when PS4 doesn't even have to buy a lot of their console exclusives. I mean Nier is only coming to PC and PS4 not because Sony payed them anything, just because they can't bothered to put it on XbOne.
That's somewhat alarming I'd say.
