Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Are We the Gamers underestimating 12Switch Potienal for the Causal Market?

Yup. It's THE family game. Everyone laughed Wii Sports out of the building before it launched and look what happened. I don't think 1, 2, Switch is going to sell at that volume, almost nothing can, but I bet it's a success.

Wii sports was bundled in. This game isn't...

The OP is not talking about sales though. He's talking about impact. A game does not need to be bundled to have an impact.

No, game is $50 and it's launching alongside zelda so it's gonna flop, plus the "casual market" belongs to mobile games.

Casuals moved on to iPhones and mobile devices, they ain't coming back. That's the problems with casuals.

It's probably like 2 megabytes in size or something. There really isn't much of a game there in data terms so I suspect it will end up as the pack in game and come pre-installed on flash storage and you won't even care its there if you don't use it because of its tiny size. No doubt at that point it will be featured on the box cover as free $50 game yet no one really bought it at $50. Nintendo seems to have a charge for everything mentality at the moment and I'm not sure that will work out for them.

I don't think so. I could be wrong but it doesn't look like a Wii Sports to me. Do you know what would sell like Wii Sports did? Switch Sports, with better motion controls, playable on the go and online play. Nintendo is a crazy company that likes to abandon its biggest franchises (first 2D Mario, now Wii Sports and Wii Fit). Wii Sports was huge on the Wii and all Nintendo did to keep it alive was to release a lazy remake of the inferior version on a console that didn't feature motion control out of the box and market it by saying "it's in HD now!" as if the game profited from that in any way.

Definitely, core gamers seems don't see potential of this game for casual/family/party gamers.

No, it's not just a crap game, it's a crap party/casual game. If you want a party game play Jackbox, Singstar, Mario & Sonic Olympics. 1-2-Switch for the majority of games included looks like the most shallow experience imaginable.

It's like wario-ware... except the shallow micro-games last a lot longer, and it doesn't continuously speed up. So a really slow Wario-ware without the challenge.

Im not sure yet, but it is very funny. And funny has the word FUN in it!

It seems likes it is more easier to hop in than Nintendoland. And both Wii Sports and 1 2 Switch doesn't use Nintend characters.

I can't wait for lots of lets plays of this game XD

Pocky Lover Boy!

My estimate:
It this ridiculously high price point, it well sell less than 1 million copies - and the majority of that will actually be early Switch adopters who buy it mainly because of the depressingly short list of Switch launch titles.

Of course they are coming back. The smartphone hype is pretty much over, sales keep on decreasing, people get bored by it because it's every year the same. They are just desperately waiting for something new. They don't stick to anything, they just go along with the newest hype train. That's the thing with casuals. Will the Switch with 1-2-Switch be the next hot new thing? I don't know, probably not. But it's still foolish to say the people wouldn't come back. They will come back if you give them a reason to do so.
