Man you guys really gave the troll the food he wanted.

I find it funny how you automatically assume I'm a troll when I stated that these are nitpicks that MAY happen.

Was not referring to you.

Was referring to the guy who came in and posted something he posted in a couple other topics. Basically saying that this game will get a score in the 70's.

Reviewers are much tougher on games nowadays too.

Zelda will still score well but reviewers get more harsh when a genre has more competition to review against or comparatively to. Zelda has never had that type of competition until now since the WItcher 3, Skyrim and Final Fantasy 15 came out. They were lucky to have been alone in their type of open world for some time, but that time is definitely over now. They most likely have added mechanics that are from newer games as well as their old ones.

Skyrim released a week before Skyward Sword, yet the latter game still scored a 93.

Final Fantasy XV has an 81% metacritic because of some clear flaws.

The Witcher 3 is a greatly acclaimed game, but it is different enough from Zelda to not affect it.

Not sure what the final score you will think it will be, but I'm pretty sure it can hit at least 90

Open world doesn't make Zelda BotW same like other games on market, 3D Zelda games were always pretty different to rest of games on market.

Its open world fantasy action with soft rpg elements. There will be some overlap when they are reviewing. All of those games learned from Zelda and I am sure Nintendo has been watching the list of great open world fantasy rpg's that have come out. Zelda is the basis for open world RPG even though it isnt considered one itself. There are also no leveling mechanics for your character.

Actually Zelda (at least 3D Zelda's) was always action-adventure fantas game, and they always were more-less open world in some degree, but this is 1st time to be true open world from NES Zelda.

IGN said once in E3 that BotW was the open-world Zelda game they have been waiting for, so I don't believe that the open-worldness will affect the score.

I believe it will hit 94 on Switch and 92 on the Wii U. My Wii U prediction is 50/50 since it may be higher due to less reviews

I expect some very mixed reviews but not because of the points above or the comparably bad graphics but because they changed the well working Zelda formula so much that this game isn't a Zelda game anymore. And long time Zelda fans will not like that.

I you ask me, imo the formula was getting somekind old and worn out, many people hated in some degree Skyward Sword which was the evolution in terms of gameplay, BotW will actually go back to the roots, the basics on which the first Zelda was created and have gotten all these prestige.
