Forums - Gaming Discussion - How close is Metacritic's scores to your feelings of your favorite series?

This just shows that people need to not over-react when their favorite NEW game is getting lower scores than they want.

Let's see what people think a few months, let alone years from now Horizons 88-87-86 or whatever it falls at score. Most likely at that point they will agree.

Everything new always seems cooler than it is. It's fresh, its new, it's exciting, ect. Once that initial euphoria wears off you can better judge something.

Meta means nothing to me. I don't let a number decide for me. I truly feel using numbers to review a game is silly and doesn't make a lot of sense. Thing is people don't read reviews just look at the number. You can't just us e a number to compare one art form to a totally different work of art but people do it even tho it makes no damn sense.

If I am having fun that's all I need to know. It's possible to have more fun with a game that got a 60 meta more than one that got a 90. So meh dumb system.

Pokémon is probably my favorite series (maybe Zelda too, but it's hard to compare whole franchises).

Yellow: N/A - 74
Emerald: 76 - 96
Platinum: 83 - 84
Soulsilver: 87 - 92
White: 87 - 82
Black 2: 80 - 85
X: 87 - 91
Moon: 87 - 87

(First score is the metacritic, second is personal)

So, my score is not the same as the Metascore, but the differences aren't too big (except for Emerald, but that's probably due to nostalgia - it was my first real game).

I figured games with a TON of entries would probably not match up exactly. Still pretty close though, with that many titles is impressive.

It varies, some are pretty good while others get like 70s when I really had fun with them

Pokemon is my favourite series too.

It's interesting how no one game in the series is the clear best one(gold/silver has a good case though)Each person has a different game they regard as the best. People opinions vary for this series more than any other.

My ranking:

(First Metascore, then my score)

Emerald: 76 -->88

Platinum:83 -->93

Soulsilver:87 -->90

White:87 -->87

White 2: 80-->89

X: 87-->80

Moon: 87-->92

I may or may not be biased towards Platinum since it was my first game.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Just curious, how would you rate them? I'm playing DW8XLCE and I find it pretty good. Tons of content to keep me entertained for hours.

Mostly in the 80s, with Empires & XL titles rated lower (they're essentially just DLCs sold as full games). The main issue I have with those scores though is DW6 having a better score than 7. I still think 6 deserves better than a 59 as it isn't that bad, mid 70s would perhaps be fair. 7 however was better than 6 in pretty much everyway, definitely deserves more than it rather than less. 5 too should definitely be higher than 6. There's a reason 6 got a lot of hate and it's because it was a big decline in quality for the series so it shouldn't have scored as high as the previous entry

As for DW8XLCE, I think that deserves the highest rating. Perhaps as high as an 88 or something. It's essentially an enhanced re-release of the (imo) biggest and best DW so far with a load of additional content added on top. There's not many games I've triple dipped for, but that's one of them

Yeah, the ammount of content is impressive. I've played a gazillion maps and I'm not even close to finish the campaigns. There are also tons of characters and weapons. And the movesets for each weapon/character are also pretty impressive. Not sure why DW games tends to score low. I think it could be because of the pre-conception of being just button-smashers, when there's some strategy and planning, specially on highest difficulties. Never tried an Empires game before though. Is it similar to DW8 ambition mode?
