Forums - Gaming Discussion - How close is Metacritic's scores to your feelings of your favorite series?

If you look at your favorite series in metacritic, based on score does it match how you would rank the games yourself?

I'll give an example as this may be confusing to some people. The Xeno series based on score looks like this:

Xenoblade Chronicles - 92

Xenoblade Chronicles X - 84

Xenogears - 84

Xenosaga Episode I - 83

Xenosaga Episode III - 81

Xenosaga Episode II - 73

What's interesting is this is exactly how I'd rate the series (even the thoughts of Gears and Blade X being tied for second and third respectively). I'm going to guess with a lot of the longer running series this won't be the case, but wonder how close it is generally speaking.

I think metacritic scores are generally on point to how I'd rate most of the games I've played personally. They're good they're not just one persons opinion, most series have a game that didn't live up to the standards of the rest, but I generally haven't really seen a score that I thought was really off from what it should of been. Movies/TV shows are another thing however, there are a lot of issues I run into with those on metacritic.

Metal Gear Solid is my favorite series.
Only counting the Kojima´s games and not counting MG1 and 2.

MGS 1 -94
MGS 2 -96
MGS 3 -91
MGS 4 -94
MGS PW -89
MGS 5 -93

My rank is MGS1>MGS3>MGS2>MGS4>MGS5>MGS PW

Kinda agreed with the metacritic scores.

My personal scores would be:
MGS 1 -99
MGS 2 -96
MGS 3 -96
MGS 4 -92
MGS PW -81
MGS 5 -89

The biggest difference would be Peace Walker. I don´t really like portable gaming.

It's pretty crazy actually. Which is why I'm not as completely dismissive about scores as others are. Not to say the scores are the end all be all, but it is to a degree accurate.

Just seen the scores for Suikoden as well. It's III, then II, then V, and last IV (the first isn't on there), which is also how I'd rate them. I know 2 is the quintessential go to for goat discussions, but I personally would pit 3 above it. So that's dead on too.

One of my favorite series, Fallout, is a good example of why meta-scores are kind of meaningless.

I'm completely fine with someone giving it a lower score because they can't stand bugs. I'm also completely fine with someone saying that they had so much fun that the bugs they experienced were only minor inconveniences and giving it a higher score. Different people have different opinions and preferences.

Bioshock - 96
Bioshock 2 - 88
Bioshock Infinite - 93

Pretty damn good i'd say.

Half-Life series has done okay for itself on MC. But I also find myself enjoying a lot of games with mediocre reviews, Dark Messiah of Might & Magic springs to mind.

Well Dark souls 2 is the highest rated souls game...
