Forums - Gaming Discussion - Netflix Vs. Gaming

Have you ever had those nights when you intended to play a game but instead decided to "channel surf" Netflix only to end up binge watching the night away?  I've had too many nights when the kid is finally in bed, and I can give my undivided attention to playing a game regardless of rating.  But instead, I end up checking out Netflix, and before you know it, I become too distracted.  I then realize it's gotten late, and I need to go to bed because I have work in the morning.  But as a gamer, I love gaming over Netflix, and I regret the decision not gaming the next morning.  Now, I've enjoyed what I've watched, but why do I easily press that Netflix button on the remote control over picking up that game controller?  How will I every tackle my massive backlog and justify future purchases if I don't play my games?  Even my kid says I have too many games.

Around the Network

Gaming is interact and takes focus while watching a show doesn't.

I have to take breaks from watching anime by gaming. I can't sit around for too long without doing something. So no, watching stuff would never distract me from gaming. It's the other way around.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Rarely, if the show happens to intently grab my interest. Netflix tends to just launch a show and you discover if you love it or not by chance.

This in itself is true, and I will admit I have made a cup of coffee on occasions to game later at night.  Maybe I need to resort to Mtn Dew.

I don't watch Netflix very often, I rarely find series I like. The only series I really liked, Merlin, was removed in December, and I'm still angry so I haven't watched any Netflix yet since then.

But it happened to me a few times with Youtube though.

Most recently, I've come across the 80s and I'm Your Father (special on David Prowse).  And they were enjoyable, but it's something I normally would not go out of my way with.  Now, Stranger Things and America Horror Story are gems in my eyes so I'm glad I came arcoss those.  My wife has gotten me into Arrow (damn woman) not being a DC fan.  But I need to moderate myself better with it.  So a lot of those hour spent watching Netflix could have been spent on gaming instead.  Netflix makes it too convenient.

That's a very familiar habit.
I often, after dinner sit down on my couch with the intention of playing a game but somehow I end up watching Netflix a lot of times. It gives me more peace of mind I guess.
I don't regret it though. How can I regret listening to my needs...?

Welcome to the next level. This was what happened to me on 360 when Netflix debuted on console and I never looked back. Gaming is for n00bs...
