Forums - Nintendo Discussion - I'm sorry but if the Nintendo Switch doesn't get the big third party support, it will fail.

Third party games come out way too frequent and they are always the top best selling games. A lot of people can only afford one console and if Nintendo's top best selling exclusives come out once or twice a year while the top best selling third party games come out ten times a year that is a big problem for Nintendo. The Wii U failed and a lot of it has to do with little to no third party games and being more expensive than the competition (ps3 and 360). The xbox one/ ps4 will be $250 with all the third party games that people want.

I feel like Nintendo Switch could've made a case for it's system if they made the system cheaper (around 200 dollars).

This, plus his argument about most people only able to afford 1 console a generation basically states that the Switch has 0% chance regardless of support.

That would mean that everyoen who already owns a PS4 or One has no money to even look at the Switch. They already spent their generation money on a system, so even with 3rd party support they just can't afford a new system.

Constant Nintendo first party + Japanese 3rd party support + indies + token western support should provide a minimum of succes for the NS.

Anything more then that, will be a bonus .

That also implies that most XBO & PS4 owners are casuals as most dedicated gamers will want to own more than one system.

With the amount of tech that is in the Nintendo Switch, I'm always baffled to see people say "maybe it would be successful at 200 dollars!!!" How on earth could they sell a product like this at 200? I'm honestly surprised they are selling it at a profit for 300. It may not have the most advanced graphics, but there is some really cool tech in those joy-cons. And a portable device that outputs 720p with such gorgeous graphics is something we have never seen before!

I don't understand how it can be so difficult for people to define a number when they talk about fails.

PC has been becoming more affordable than ever over the past few years, and I could get you sources proving it if necessary, so Im not really going to be relying on the Switch for AAA releases from 3rd parties.

What Nintendo doesnt realize is that the Switch can be a potential goldmine if they market it that way. Minecraft, Splatoon, Stardew Valley, Mario Kart 8, Skyrim, all are huge games from the past generation and they are about to become handheld games. you can play them anywhere. If they focuses on the Switch being an individual experience rather than a console dedicated to local co-op and family games, they would all the money

Who can only afford one console? Maybe 12 year old but every one with a job can afford a more than one console
