Maybe it does feature it, but they wouldn't talk about it considering almost no launch titles feature online/lan multiplayer. Super Bomberman R is the only real candidate. If it does ever come to the Switch I wouldn't expect it at launch, like everything else it will miss at launch (virtual console, internet browser, online subscription and it's features).

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe probably will be since DS and 7 both had it. Super Bomberman R might also but I'm not sure. thats about it

I did some further checking, and APPARENTLY it's been called a rumor because it's from a German Nintendo rep, and no official English translation exists. But it seems an odd thing to get wrong in translation.

It says the question asked was if you can play 8 player with one game card, Bomberman supports 8 players with one card on a SINGLE switch, so a positive answer to that question doesn't necessarily mean download play.

But also the source they linked for the interview at no point mentions what they're talking about anyway, at least from what I can see.

I'm pretty sure Reggie answered a question like this, saying something like it's up to the game or developer. It would probably have to work the same way as Mario Party Star Rush for 3DS does, were you need to download a e-shop title specifically for the game for it to work.
