Xbox One Price Drops To $250 To Match PS4 For A Limited Time

The original story is below.

[UPDATE] In other Xbox One deals news, eBay is selling the 500 GB Xbox One S Minecraft bundle for only $200 right now. Go to the eBay page here (via Kotaku) to place an order.

The original story is below.

Microsoft today announced a $50 price cut on all Xbox One and Xbox One S systems, bringing the price of the console down to $250 to start. This temporary price cut is reportedly good until February 25.

The price cut matches Sony's temporary PS4 price drop to $250 that started February 12 and also runs until February 25. When Sony announced its PS4 price cut, it was only a matter of time before Microsoft followed, as it's done in the past.

As mentioned, the Xbox One price cut is good on all Xbox One and Xbox One S bundles, including the 1 TB Xbox One S Halo Wars 2 system that launches today. Its list price is $350, but the discount brings it down to $300. It comes with a copy of the Halo Wars 2 Ultimate Edition, which unlocks today ahead of the RTS sequel's official release on February 21.

There are quite a few Xbox One S bundles available, including the 500 GB Battlefield 1 system that comes with that game and a one-month subscription to EA Access. It normally sells for $300 but is now available for $250 thanks to the price cut.

The $50 price cut on all Xbox One models is good at all major retailers in the US, including the Microsoft Store, Amazon, Target, GameStop, Best Buy, and Walmart.

The prices just keep going down!

Good for the consumer. I would say that you get the most bang for your buck out of the PS4 and XB1 than any other electronic device.

Is Switch gonna drop to $250 by launch date?

It seems to me that Sony is dropping the price to combat the Switch launch while Microsoft is doing it to keep up with the PS4.  But I am hearing that the Switch for the most part have pre-orders sold out.

switch will definitely get a price cut, just a matter of when. Why go for a cheaper price when people are happily paying for 300 now?

Wow, this took a while to get out there. The price cut was already in effect this morning, ha, and the Target and Best Buy circulars had already shown that the Xbox was $50 off starting on Sunday for a week or two. I didn't even comment on it on the Amazon thread because I just kind of assumed that people knew.

Still can't believe how Microsoft released a Minecraft bundle but without a custom console.

Microsoft really should make more custom bundles, the Fallout 4 Bundle is one example that keeps poping in my head.

Proud to be a Californian.

PS and XB can't do to much about early Switch sales, but what they are doing is trying to make sure it doesn't gain sustained traction to the point where it can gain serious momentum.
If NiN can gain momentum through the year and into the holidays, PS and XB could see their sales and momentum drop considerably.
By getting consoles into peoples hands (no pun intended) throughout the year, PS and XB can potentially keep Switch at a slower steady pace, where it wouldn't interfere with PS or XB sales all that much during holiday 2017.
Whether this works or not really only matters a lot to NiN. If it holds back Switch than that won't be great for the console or brand. If it fails and Switch sells well, its not going to hurt PS all that much overall. It might hurt XB just a bit.

After the Wii U Im not trusting Nintendo with any price cut.  No matter how logical it seems for them to do it.
