Forums - Sony Discussion - PS4: 'Nioh Opened A whole New Audience For Us' (Koei Temco)

As long as they don't make the mistake a lot of Japanese companies did and try Westernising too much, they'll continue their success:

“We are very happy with the global success of Nioh,” Koinuma told MCV. “This game has been long in development and has been created with all the creative force of our company behind it. The positive reviews and strong performance has truly been a wonderful validation of our efforts so far, as has the overwhelming reception from the players themselves.

“With the invaluable help of Sony Interactive Entertainment, we released two early demos, Alpha and Beta, and we were able to give players all over the world a teaser of what we were planning for them while simultaneously being open to their feedback.

“As a result we believe we were able to adapt to their expectations and reach out to a brand new audience that hadn’t played our games in the past. In that, Nioh has taught us a lot of valuable lessons and has definitely helped open up an entirely new audience for us.

“Nioh’s success, as well as the recent western success of titles like Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom and Dead or Alive, is proof that if we follow the right approach and listen to the needs of the players they will embrace our titles and help our company grow further.”

A really successful exclusive partnership. Happy for Sony and Koei!

I'm loving the game, it's right there with Dark Souls 3 and Bloodborne tbh.

Good job Team Ninja and Koei.

What a nice success story!

Now I need to actually play this sucker. I booted up Dark Souls last night and I'm hooked again. I'm sure Nioh will take over my life in a similar way.

Im honestly expecting this game to release on PC later, especially considering it doesnt have the "Only on Playstation" logo as other exclusives, i know Sony published it but.... didnt Microsoft also published the last Tomb Raider game only for it to be released later on PC and PS4?.

Im almost 100% sure it will come to PC later and considering its success i can also see it being released on the other 2 consoles as well.

Be sure to do it, the thing is amazing.

It's at the top of my list! Just need to finish some outstanding games and clear through a bit of backlog. Hopefully by then it's down to $30 or $40.

Well last two playstation experiences they have said on conference its exclusive to their platform, altough at the backround it said its ps4 console exclusive (later on developer clarified its ps4 exclusive) so who knows if its coming to pc. It also says Sony interactive enterteinment presents in game and have sony people in the credits. PC release is possible but no way its going to other consoles.

Great, now send more copies to stores. I haven't found it yet on my walmart, 2 gamestops, best buy and amazon. They really expected less demand.
