Forums - Politics Discussion - President Duterte decreased Crime Rate in the Philippines by 13%!

good on Duterte, kill them all. I would be happy if any nation with big drug problems just started executing smugglers and those that sell the drugs illegally.

I would do the same with those criminal Rapefuuges that come from Arab countries and Africa, i would kill any and all that either Rape or murder any of our citizens. Dont give them prison but rather simply put them 6 feet under.

You're acting like there's a finite number of people with drug issues, and that killing them all would permanently solve the problem. That makes no sense at all, since there's people that go in and out of drug problems, so the only way to be 100% that there'll be no more drug addicts is by killing everyone.

In the US more than 52,404 people died last year of drug overdose, 4x as many who died by gun homicides (13000 excluding suicides). Even heroin alone kills more Americans than guns. It is by far not just some people smoking a doobie.

Heroin deaths rose 23 percent in one year, to 12,989, slightly higher than the number of gun homicides...
Overall, overdose deaths rose 11 percent last year, to 52,404. Gun deaths, including homicides and suicides, totaled 36,252, up 7 percent.

The thing is if you legalise heroin you have a regulated product that cut's overdosing way down, this is exactly whathappened in the UK during the 1950's and 1960's , at that time the use of herion was fairly small and not widespread like the states and was it was mainly dock workers in large international ports  places like liverpool working on US ships, these  workers where first introduced to heroin by the US sea men in the form of smoking heroin reefers . because of this clustering there was a trial of supplying registered heroin addicts with pharmacy grade heroin that lasted around twenty years .

That is a dubious thesis, how would lower prices and greater availabilty reduce consumption (or what do you understand by legalisation)? The methadone replacement helps addicts to get clean and mitigates some of the effects, but it doesn't stop new addicts getting into heroin or other hard drugs. To my knowldge there is no developed country that ever legalized heroin or any other hard drug.

Can't argue with results. Time to go out and kill anyone doing anything without a license or permit (like the gun owners), employers breaking employment laws, racists, and sex offenders.

Actually you can argue with the results if you actually read the article.

The article says a few years prior, the Phillipines saw an even large drop in crime (16%) year over year, apparently without Duerte's tactics.

Fancy that. Also this 13% drop (which personally I don't really think it worth holding a parade over, that means 87% of crime is still ongoing) comes with a higher murder rate on top of that.

He is a great and effective leader.

Freedom is overrated and people don't appreciate it.

People need to be controlled like sheep.

Congrats to him and the Philippines.

I bet you're a blast at parties. Especially with the ladies.

It's clear what he's doing on this site. I say let him. The less attention, the better.

Won't be long until you have liberals over there complaining about all the "non-violent" drug offenders in jail. They get released and crime once again goes up.

That's what happened here in America. We had our war on drugs, started by Bill Clinton, and it reduced crime huge from the 90's. Yet now we are thinking that all those people in prison for drug related offenses should be released and also lax on our drug enforcement and crime is once again going up.

You know why crime dropped in the 90s?  It mainly was due to Roe vs Wade in 70s making abortions legal throughout the USA.  Those unwanted kids that were aborted never had a chance to grow up in a family that didn't want them.  Those unwanted kids would have hit their 20s by the 90s.  They never had a chance to contribute to the crime rate.

Romania shows otherwise. Ceaucescu banned abortions and it ended up causing such a crisis and conflict that got overthrown and executed.

I've never heard this argument before, but it does seem to be accepted by some.

I suppose it makes sense to a degree, but I'll have to do more digging.
