Forums - Sony Discussion - PlayStation Now support being pulled from PS3; Vita; Bravia/Samsung TVs; Blu-Ray players

Seems like a good move. doubt it was being used on those devices anyway. we'll have to wait and see if it actually improves the service. but even then the price is still a bit much.

The ball is on Sony's court. Microsoft has done a good job with bringing 360 games to the XB1. There will definitely be backlash if Sony doesn't, at the very minimum, make the PS5 backwards compatible with PS4 games.

I can sadly see Sony though not having BC in the PS5. Simply to make it cost less and more importantly as an excuse to remaster games so they can make more money.

And that is my biggest fear.

Not surprised. Most TV's loose support after a couple years anyway, which is why I believe buying a Smart TV isn't a wise choice if you care for long-term support.

Stop it! I won't stand by and see you act the looser. You mean lose. You're the smartest tech guy on VGC by a mile. If we ever have a knife fight with neogaf, and some dick from gaf starts talking shit about trilinear mipmapped interpolation, we'll need you in optimal slashing mode. No time for loosing, cause we are the champions.

Trilinear Filtering is based on Bilinear Filtering.
It's about Curve-fitting between two points between mipmaps, It's an Isotropic technique.

Anisotropic filtering is clearly superior.

Now that's what I'm talking about. :)

Will this be the beginning of the end of Playstation Now?

#playstationthen

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

I'm more surprised at the fact that people here are surprised. Playstation Now was bound to be a failure and with services like Gamefly that won't limit you as much why even bother with this.

The service must be incredibly unpopular to cut support on those devices.

I love the idea of cloud gaming but it just hasnt been done in a way I like.

The removal from tv's is surprising.

As someone that uses this service quite often on Vita, I think the benefits of dopping it could be much greater than having it sick around. If they do indeed start the transition from Cell and Nvidia based servers to AMD x86 servers, then they will have to bring even more games to the massively superior PS4 OS and Architecture. Building the PS4 ecosystem is much more important for Sony and the gaming community, and will ultimately lead to more and better games.

If this means more classic and future games ae coming to PS4, then Remote Play will be even more important. Remote Play is already a thing for mobile, and has much more potential since it is free. Much better dropping $250 on a PS4, and buying some games to Remote Play, than dropping $240 a year on PS Now for nothing but old games.
