Just...maybe

If rumors are true, that is worth noting.

Is there going to be 4k games? Ha, no. No one expects that. Well beyond some indie size games.

But it's worth noting for when they maybe bring netflix and co to the system that it could be a 4k streaming device, same as ps4pro.

And then the little indie games that brag about being 4k for no reason. You know like if shove knight or sonic mania or somethign is in 4k. It's not gonna blow off anyones socks. These are crisis games or anything.

Yeah, I don't expect many games at all will use 4K. This is mostly like you said for video streaming. I wouldn't mind Sonic Mania at 4K But consoles today can barely do 1080 60 no drops, so I'm expecting this to be a thing for game softwre.

Switch 1024 FP16 (512 Gflops FP32).

Playstation 4 is 1,840 Gflops FP32 (aka 1.84 teraflops).

So it can do 4k at 30fps?

This will likely be for video (movies) streaming from the likes of Netflix at somepoint in future.

Sounds like the dock is proprietary. Well played Nintendo. Makes buying another Switch an easy decision.

Nov 2016 - NES outsells PS1 (JP)

Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!

There will be 0 games that do 4k. Maybe, maybe it will allow video streaming at 4k, but more likely it was just a devit feature that will never be used at all in the final product.

The thing is, the document says 1024 Flops. So I can't really assume at this point. I kinda doubt switch would be .5TF, we've heard .75 from digital foundry. The document is confusing. It really doesn't specify if it's a Megaflop, Gigaflop or at FP16 or 32 but you are most likely right.

It could be 1024Gflops and be 1TF FP16, or 1024Gflops FP32, aka 512TF. But do hardware manufacturers default to FP16 when noting specs?

All this is saying is that it has the capacity to do 4K out, not necessarily that games will run at 4K resolutions. That'd depend on the GPU if I'm correct, which isn't that great. We won't be seeing 4K games on the Switch...ever.

So it's pretty much a Tegra X1 chip like I envisioned ...

The GPU has a maximum clock of 1 GHz but it's not going to clock anywhere near that high on the Switch with it's limited thermal dissipation capabilities ...

This rumor doesn't add anything new ...

Its a handheld. Pretty sure phones/tablets probably get listed in FP16 too.

Its gonna be 1024 Gflops of FP16 (512 gflop fp32).

Pretty sure we had this rumored amount before as well.

*edit:

Theres no way its 1024 Gflops of FP32.

That would make it a match for the Xbox One... just no way.

If it was 1 tf of fp32, there would likely be a lot more ports swinging over, I'd bet. 512 at 32 or whatever the one Eurogamer leak said is much more likely, I think.
