Are there any big outlets who still haven't given a score? Because IIRC scores from bigger outlets affect scores more on Metacritic than scores of smaller outlets.

Kotaku hasn't given a score yet. i don't know if they're considered a major outlet though.

If this was reviewed by the same standards of last gen, it would likely have gotten at least a 91. Reviewers are so blatantly more harsh with their reviews this gen.

Nailed it! . Game looks awesome. Now, if it wasn't near Switch launch... I'll buy it next month, probably. This year is shaping up to be awesome.

Would be incredible if Horizon can improve the way Uncharted improved from its firstill iteration.

My 8th gen collection

EGM: 9.0/10 http://www.egmnow.com/articles/reviews/horizon-zero-dawn-review/ (not yet on Metacritic but should be soon)
DualShockers: 10/10 http://www.dualshockers.com/2017/02/22/horizon-zero-dawn-review-guerrilla-games-finally-delivered-true-masterpiece/
Still 88

Famitsu (their scores aren't on Metacritic): 36/40 (basically a 9/10): http://gematsu.com/2017/02/famitsu-review-scores-issue-1473

Edge magazine is definitely considered big though they can be pretty picky.

From now on? When do you think these harsher reviews started? Because there are a lot of games this gen that received over 90%. Even last gen, only 5 FPS received more than 90% last gen and those include MW 1 & 2 and Bioshock.

They started with this gen, as I said, we are in the middle of it and still didn't get a single mid-high 90 score yet (Nintendo already moved consoles without a single of them), and games that were hitting 90s before are now hitting 80s, like Halo, Xenoblade, Gears, Far Cry, Little Big Planet (from 90s to 70s), etc.

Regarding your next post, pretty clear I'm talking about Metacritic on the post you quoted, not GameRankings, so the remark is pointless to that post.

So why where games re-reviewed this gen like GTAV and TLoU get such high scores? Surely the critics would have beem harsher this gen.

We also have games from existing franchises going up - Witcher 3, Uncharted 4, Rayman Legends, Forza Horizon 3. MGSV is 1 point below MGS4. All based on MC.

I think it's a self-fulfilling prophecy. Reviewers wanted the game to be good so they gave it good scores but not all of them did which explains the high 80s. We'll know soon enough whether it's another Mass Effect 3.

http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/gaming/horizon-zero-dawn-review-ps4-a7589131.html another 10 strangely not up yet and the Independent has a public profile on Metacritic.

The Independent is only accepted for its music reviews on Metacritic.
