Very good to see AMD in the race again, obv for console owners Cpu's are not a big thing since all of the consoles use very cheap laptop-low performance computing units
but for PC its exciting, some games especially on the higher physics settings and to achieve those 60 frames in open world currently Intel is basically the only choice and I hope that the Ryzen will be something worth considering in my new PC I am going to build next year :)

looks good. hopefully it forces intel to make cannonlake even better. competition is good and intel really had none for a while, which is why kaby lake was not really an upgrade at all. even though ryzen will be good, im still going with intel next year when cannonlake releases, along with a volta gpu.

I hope these perform well in benches and in sales - AMD is very dependend on Ryzen being a success.
The 1600X looks enticing, I wonder how high it will self-OC with a decent cooler.
Interesting. Will games start using 8 cores? Do they already use 6 cores atm?
Or is 4 cores still plenty for games? It seems the i5 without hyper threading is still more than capable to keep up with any console game running on 6 Jaguar cores.

Some games do actually benefit from eight cores.
Still not going back into PC gaming though, can't be arsed.
Anyone know what types of Sockets these use?

AM4
FX boards will not work with these

I5s are plenty for 60fps+ gaming but pcs have been stuck in the quad core region for too long. Yes these are high performance cores but really, we should have had 6-8 high performance cores at affordable prices a while ago. But thanks to intels monopoly and amd failing to deliver on cpus, it has been zzz worthy.
Hopefully Ryzen will change that and will usher in an era of affordable high performance 8 cores.
