Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Prediction: Halo 6 split screen mode to be exclusive to scorpio

Lol I thought almost the same thing when I said it in the Empire thread

Can't see that happening.

"Hey know how we pissed you off by removing co-op? Well it is back.
... if you buy our new expensive console. That won't actually have any exclusive games".

The scorpio having "exclusive" or "features" will piss off the entire xb1/s fanbase.

Yeah this would just anger me more as an Xbox One owner. Removing a feature that defined the series going back to Combat Evolved just to sell more copies and more Xbox Live subscriptions is bad enough. To reintroduce that feature and then lock it behind a mid-gen upgrade is just way too slimy.

Well it's still a Halo game made by 343, so it's going to be garbage. Splitscreen is the least of issues with Halo right now. If they start siphoning off features they might as well just give up on the xbox brand. The xbox one has been about as useful to me as the original Wii. The 360 on the other hand is among my favorite consoles of all time. I sometimes feel MS is trying to kill of xbox by putting all their games on PC and the absolute failure that is the one. I don't game much anymore because this generation isn't in my tastes, but if I come back I am looking at Sony or just moving to PC entirely. PC sales have been down so maybe they want people to buy new PCs for games. Conspiracy talk, but it really seems like they just don't care about xbox.

Can't recall when they did that in the past??? Especially on major first party game?? Can't even remember an halo releasing on two different gen... Beside remasters of course.

No...
First the idea is ridiculous imo. And second, if Halo 6 is bringing back Split Screen it will be on all Xbox One and not just the scorpio. It would not make any sense to make it exclusive to the premium Xbox One only and Microsoft would never do that for no reason.

It would probably tick off a lot of fans, maybe 60fps split screen? If that's even possible of course lol. Scorpio 60fps split screen while xbone is 30fps.

It makes sense to a degree. Splitscreen was sacrificed in order to hit 60 fps according to 343, so XB1 probably isn't able to hit 60 fps with splitscreen. Scorpio has lots of extra power though, 60 fps splitscreen should be possible on Scorpio.

I think it'll depend on how flexible they are with their 'native 4k for all 1st party games' goal. If Halo 6 on the X1 follows the same tech philosophy as Halo 5, it's already going to be a challenge for them to hit a fixed 4k (the jump from the low end of Halo 5's dynamic resolution to a native 4k is almost 800%). The same arguments against split-screen on the X1 would apply to the Scorpio.

If they're willing to be flexibility though, or change their tech balancing (e.g. target a fixed 1080p on the X1), split screen should be fine.

Yeah.... at 1080p in Splitscreen. Anyone who thinks it'll be 4k Split screen is kidding themselves....

Halo's 5 engine depends on 60 fps to run properly.

Not happening. It's too much work for a relatively small audience (at least at first).
