Forums - Music Discussion - What are your favourite death/black metal albums?

I more of a Thrash metal fan, bands like Slayer and Testament. Even through an argument can be made that one of my favorite albums is border line death metal and had a great influence on death metal, Slayer - Reign in blood.

As for death metal I will go with Morbid Angel - Blessed Are the Sick.

So, do you also like bands similar to Dismember like Entombed, Unleashed and Grave?

I do like all those bands mentioned, but Dismember is the only one I'm overly familiar with. The others I either have a few albums of (Grave) or just spin on Spotify every now and then. I'd say that old school, Sunlight Studio buzz saw sound is my favourite sort of death metal though.

I just came here to see if I recognized or had even heard any of the bands listed. None listened to, 1 or 2 that Ive heard the names of before
Just not my type of metal

Well, there are some death metal bands that heavily lean thrash, like Atheist's first album for example:

Sure do - seemed like a natural outgrowth of some stuff he did on Arise and Chaos AD, which I like as well.

Yeah, I liked those albums, even if there's a lot of people who won't touch anything post-Arise. However, I haven't listened to any Sepultura post-Cavalera.

Heavy Metal, Thrash, Nu-Metal, Metalcore, Power Metal... How many sub genres are there?? I feel like I could be here all day

Also I thought of a band I've listened too before that belongs here, Children of Bodom

More specifically Done with everything, Die for nothing and If you want peace... prepare for war.
