Forums - PC Discussion - Crowdfunding for Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire

I want to indicate, that currently the game Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire is crowdfunded on fig: https://www.fig.co/campaigns/deadfire

It actually is already crowdfunded, but there are stretch-goals with interesting additional stuff to be added. The more they have as investment, the more content they can put into the game.

For who doesn't know it: Pillars of Eternity is a RPG from Obsidian which tries (and in my opinion succeeds) to capture the greatness of the original Infinity games (Baldurs gate, Icewind Dale,  Planescape Torment). The first Pillars was also successfully crowdfunded.

If you haven't played the first pillars (what is wrong with you?) you really should try now if you like RPGs: https://www.gog.com/game/pillars_of_eternity_hero_edition

Well, I for once am excited this great game gets a sequel.

I liked the first Pillars of eternity game... though I havnt played its expansion yet.

They made almost $4m for the first game.
So far on fig they only have $2.45m for the 2nd game (15days left though).

I hope Pillars of eternity II : deadfire does atleast as well as the first game did.
So few make games like this any more.

Actually Crowdfunding helped a lot in this area. There is Divinity: Original Sin and at February 28th releases Torment: Tides of Numenera (obviously leaning on the concept of Planescape: Torment). Lords of Xulima is not exactly like the Infinity games but close enough. So, now we have some games to choose from.

I backed it with $45 for the premium digital tier the day this started. I'm a poor cheapskate so I backed the first one with only $30 for a plain digital download, but it was so good I just couldn't pass up on backing this with more. Which reminds me yet again, I still have to finish the first game... I ran out of time when it came out and never finished it.

I will buy it just like the first one.

I didn't backed the first one, but bought it later. But it was laying around in my GOG-account a long time, contributing to my evergrowing backlog. I just recently started playing the game (by now going through Defiance Bay quests) and realized some days later that the second has started it's crowdfunding campaign. I didn't know, that's a coincidence. I backed Premium digital like you for $45. And playing the first is a lot of fun.

The funding reached 2.6 million, meaning the Stretch goal Berath's Blessing is reached. This is cool, as this is basically a New Game+ with some cool options. Next up is orchestral music and more subclasses at 2.8 million.

I would have seriously considered investing $1k through Fig if people outside the USA could invest through this service.

Instead I will by the original game, and that way I am adding to their profits which will help fund PoE 2 indirectly.

Yeah, 1K is also a bit steep. But yeah, seems to be limited to americans, at least for the moment.

Buying the original game is a good choice, as it is great. You should consider backing the second too, as new stretch goals and the absolute number of backers are used to add content to the game.
