Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Breath of the Wild - We can probably say its place in the timeline is... (SPOILER inside)

After Wind Waker.

Look who's here with Link, ready to sell him some piggy food:

Of course. It looks amazing, so it must be following the best Zelda game to date

Meh. Unconvincing.
This game has elements from every big Zelda and characters have crossed over before. Besides, Hyrule gets destroyed, the Master Sword is stuck in the head of a dead and petrified Ganondorf and it together with Hyrule forever submerged under water at the end of Wind Waker (spoiler-tagged in case that's still actually necessary). So how would that work?

Beedle was in Skyward Sword as well, the very first game in the timeline, so not really confirmation of anything.

Still cool though. I like that goofball.

Damn, this game looks so amazing! Can't wait to play it... one day :`(

That doesn't mean anything. The only official statement from Aonuma is that Breath of the Wild takes place somewhere after Ocarina of Time.

Ah, Beedle. So we can place Breath of the Wild somewhere between Skyward Sword and Wind Waker on the timeline. That's...not very helpful.

sorry but if it is in either victory timeline, it is in the child Link timeline. The fact that the Twighlight Princess was remastered right before this game, has a tidbit from BotW, you can use the Wolf Link amiibo in both games (with one game gaining experience for the other game), and the fact that the town square from TP looks near identical to the destroyed one in BotW gives it a lot more leverage that Wind Waker.

That guy being in game isn't even significant because of the fact he is in SS.
The only two things I can think of that puts this in the WW timeline is the Rito tribe and the Koroks, which is honestly hard to counter argue.

But there is still a very strong chance it is neither and is in the Link loses timeline

Doesn't mean much, we have already seen Koroks and Rito variants that are only in Wind Waker, and even then it's not convincing..

I'm still going with my theory that this game will merge all three timelines together

We've seen Zoras too, and those are not in Wind Waker.
