Forums - PC Discussion - My first gaming monitor

Hey guys and girls.

I bought my first proper gaming monitor yesterday. It's an Acer Predator XB270HU and if you're wondering whether a gaming monitor can improve your gaming experience much: it can!

I went from a 1080p 27" BenQ 60HZ monitor to this 1440p 144Hz G-Sync beast and it was probably the best $600AUD (approx $450USD) i've spent on my computer (that's second hand).

I already play way better in shooters and the improved resolution, colour accuracy and refresh rate combined with G-sync make single player games far more enjoyable too.

I know graphics aren't everything, but I feel like games are now looking the way their creators intended them to look, and 1440p seems to be the sweet spot for a 27" monitor. It really doesn't seem to impact performance much over 1080p and the image is noticeably cleaner.

Anyway just thought I'd let everyone know how pleased I am. If you have any questions about it feel free to ask.

sure

Price isn't bad but screen doesn't seem very big. I don't know much about gaming monitors so maybe that's a good size. I wonder what it looks like compared to a 4K TV. Much better?

I have a 27" generic Asus monitor, and I have to say, it pretty damn large. There is no way I can sit closer than 1 meter from it, without it bothering my eyes.

OT: good purchase I was thinking about buying one as well, but the price for a farily decent new one here is ~600-700 euros and thats a bit to expensive for me to bite :(

I got my Asus 144Hz 1440p Gsync monitor for Rocket League. Can't go back to 60 now.

set it to 120hz, you should notice colors look a bit better, for whatever reason for that particular model monitor people running 144hz mode have noticed color vibrance to be a bit... shall we say.. off?.

Glad you're enjoying the new purchase!

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

I have a 144 hz monitor, but most games are either locked at 60 FPS, or my PC can't do better than 120...  I want to sell it and build another.  It's better for games.  I wouldn't even bother trying to argue. Just let the nay-sayers have their 30 fps games.  Literally didn't see a point in trying to argue someone the differences between 100 fps and 30.

Why did you not buy a 8k monitor? 1440pi isn't that good ;/
