Forums - Gaming Discussion - Switch pro controller has no headphones port, disapointing

Around 16 hours because I put a $5 2000 mAh battery in it, and make use of the light at dimming feature in the newer firmwares (which on its own dramatically improves the standard battery life) and much like every other controller I have, when I'm done playing it gets sat on the charge stand, both functional AND tidy.

Now the real question is, who plays for more than 8 hours at a time? Thus making the whole argument redundant to begin with.

Yeah, nice way to avoid a direct answert: 4 hours.

You try to argue that pro doesn't have a vastly superior battery when Ps4 gamepad has 4 hours and XBO gamepad doesn't even have a battery to beggin with. Even if Pro lastsd 20 hours instead of 40 still has a vastly superior battery, there is no way to spin that.

Oh, you're one of those people.

"Well, the crew over at DualShockers did a bit of good old fashioned science, and their results were intriguing to say the least. They found that on the standard setting, the input device lasted around 11 hours, while on the 'medium' option, it lasted 11 hours and 42 minutes. Interestingly, on the dimmest possible brightness, the DualShock 4 lasted 12 hours and 21 minutes."

4 hours, pfft, try owning one.

4-5 hours

I have played on Ps4 sometimes for long periods of time with friend and I have seen how the battery goes away in an afternoon.

Plug it into the system instead. Is the cable not long enough? Buy an extender cable, they are really cheap

4-5 hours

I have played on Ps4 sometimes for long periods of time with friend and I have seen how the battery goes away in an afternoon.

Most of the replies in that thread state 7-8 hr, the ones stating 4-5 are saying with heavy use + voice chat through controllers jack port (I.e. constant 3 channel audio stream)

Yet you go with the lowest possible one? In the absolute heaviest use case scenario? Right.

Only reason why the switch pro controller will last longer is because it's battery is 1300mAh instead of the stock 1000mAh, and since all inputs are digital the communication between console and controller uses less bandwidth and thus less radio power/update blocks but at the cost of no analog buttons.

Average ds4 battery life is still 6-8hr on normal play, 12-16 with a $5 battery upgrade.

But the thing is, I didn't even bring up the DS4, I was comparing it to the battery life on my Xbox one controller, but I see why you would bring up the DS4, I mean.. it's a bit of a straw man to an argument of switch pro vs Xbox one battery life but if it's the best you have then..

It's kind of a disappointment, but I bet the Switch screen itself has a headphone jack. Besides, that controller does look quite good for those who prefer it over the Joy-cons. I don't see that as a dealbreaker, and I use the PS4's jack from time to time.

That's what mine average. Although it rarely comes up because you know what I'm done when playing? I plug it in.

This argument seems odd. The whole "portable zelda only being 3 hours", and the "switch doesn't come with the charging Joygrip" was based on the "who plays a game that long" argument.

Yet now we are comparing controllers.. using that very same argument?

Argument originates from trying to defend the lack of audio jack on the pro controller, it's a weak defense to say that longer battery life is "worth" no audio jack.

Just ordered m'y Switch now, was waiting for thé Big deal and i got it , Zelda + Switch + tempéréd glass protection for only 200 euros, not that expensive

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

Don't worry there will be a version two later. jack and analogue triggers. why sell something once when you can sell it twice.

Yes but the argument is originating from the same people that were AGAINST the argument before.

You can't argue that the pro controllers battery is too low, and then argue the battey life for playing something like Zelda in portable is fine.  You can't argue that "4 hours isn't enough" while saying "who cares the Joy con grip can't charge controllers".

So I find it odd that this happening.  My controller last 6 to 7 averages(based on being too lazy to plug it in).  I don't care the joycon grip can't charge controllers(i can plug those in also). And I think 3 hours is a pretty good time for playing a game like zelda on the handheld.

The question here is that this guy was trying to argue that the life battery of both WiiU and Switch Pro is not vastly superior to the Ps4 and XBO gamepad despite the fact that one lasts about 4-6 hours and the other doesn't even have a battery to begin with, don't mix things, he created that discussion, there is no such contradiction of areguments anywhere. Also, about the theme in question, have in count that if you play the console docked the life battery of your controllers can matter, not everyone is gonna use the console as a handheld all the time, and I think we can all agree having a better battery life than the average is something positive about the gamepad, or is so hard to admit something as simple as that just because we are talking about a Nintendo product?

No bluetooth support, so you cant use headphones at all
