Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Tabata: Nope To FFXV On Switch; Would Like To See Android Apps On Switch

I will certainly buy it if it comes out on switch, I only bought the first PlayStation when VII was released

The Switch is definitely not as powerful as the PS4, but game developers would make their games on the Wii if it still had an active install base of 100 million. They'll go where the money is, even it means making the Switch's own version like with 3DS and PS Vita ports or multiplats. Right now the Switch hasn't the install base to get developers to make a risk in bringing games to the system yet, but especially for Japanese developers they'll get their games running on the Switch no matter what it takes if it can emulate even just half of the 3DS's Japanese sales.

Not saying that the Switch will sell super well, just that if it does developers will go where the money is.

Lots of developers ignored the Wii even when it did have an active 100 million userbase or relegated it to just shovelware.

Well, it would have been cool, but I wasn't even expecting it.

Since FFXV was a huge dissapointment for me I couldnt care less if it did, I wouldn't buy it either way.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

I'm expecting the "do we need a thread every time a game doesn't come to switch" argument to come up shortly,

And in this case - absolutely. FF15 was on many people wish list.

Perhaps there should be a "mega thread" to group all threads like this though.

We had so many "FFXV is coming to Switch" rumor threads that it's only fair to make a thread about it being wrong. How many rumors of games being ported to Switch ended up wrong?

Yeah, before the reveal FFXV was one of the "obviously will come after a year" port. This was pretty common when SE supposedly said they needed 10 million to be successful

The system I think is about half power wise where it needs to be to realistically be a decent option for PS4-XB1 games.

It would need to have a 750 GFLOP-ish GPU + 6GB of RAM to be a good bet for ports and even then they'd likely have to make some serious compromises. Maybe Switch Pro or Switch 2 will be in that range.

When you are asking devs to make a version for a 180 GFLOP portable mode ... it's just too hard for a lot of the bigger games.

Well over the Wii's lifetime it still got a lot of major 3rd party franchsises e.g. Call of Duty, Fifa, Dragon Quest X, Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, Tomb Raider, etc. Developers stopped putting out games because they didn't sell as the majority of the Wii's install base were casual gamers which had no interest in any theses games.

And there were plenty of IP that weren't on the Wii period ... no mainline Final Fantasy, no Street Fighter, no Tekken, no Ridge Racer, no Metal Gear Solid, no Red Dead Revolver, no Grand Theft Auto, no BioShock, even the DQ and Resident Evil games it did get weren't really "mainline" installments either.
