Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Switch Will Not Support a Web Browser at launch

People who are pro not having a web browser. I mean yeah, I rarely use the one that the PS4 has but its there, its an option. It seems that the OS and app support for the Switch is bare-bones and non-existent. Yet another reason to wait on the fenmce for a while.

Eh, don't see a point in a console browser. Using my smartphone is way faster.

Intel Core i7 8700K | 32 GB DDR 4 PC 3200 | ROG STRIX Z370-F Gaming | RTX 3090 FE| Crappy Monitor| HTC Vive Pro :3

That's pretty pathetic, but also not a big deal, the Wii didn't get it's browser until later. For me personally I do use the browsers on my 3DS n Wii U because they're my only form of portable internet surfing which is more convenient than using the computer to browse as I can use them while making food or in the bed. Twitch no longer works on the Wii U browser so I was hoping the Switch browser would be improved enough to support it, but I guess that hope is dashed for now.

Deja vu! I feel like I already read through this exact thread weeks ago, reactions and all.

Meh I used the web browser on my Wii-U maybe 3-4 times over 4 years.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

Why do you need chat or web browsing support either way. That's what your phone is for. XD.

Microsoft: I'm a software expert.
Nintendo: I'm Nintendo !!!!

This actually really worries me since for me to access my internet that is provided by my apartment complex, it makes me put in a password and username. In order for me to do that, I have to access a web browser to put it in. There is no way around it for my phone, Wii U, 3DS, laptop, I have too access a web browser. I have no idea what Nintendo plans to do to accommodate a situation like mine.

You can set up your phone to act as a WiFi hotspot and then connect to that using Switch. It sure is inconvenient but it's not exactly a huge deal and at least it lets you use internet with Switch.

Seems like another reason to wait with the Switch. It feels like the firmware is going to be in a basic state when launched. I guess by September it will be all sorted and cheaper with the big push for Christmas sales.

The Wii was 10 years ago...

This would seem weird to me if we weren't using a smartphone app for online functionality; but we are. This doesn't bother me in the slightest now. Would also not be bothered if there were no plans for video streaming apps as well.
