Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Phil Spencer leaves door open for Xbox 360 emulation on Windows 10

Hit the link for the Tweets:

The question has been raised on Twitter as to whether we will ever see backwards compatibility for Xbox 360 games added to Windows 10, and the answer might surprise you. Rather than shut things down with a definitive 'no,' Xbox head Phil Spencer left the door ever-so-slightly ajar by responding, "Never say never."

That doesn't mean anything is imminent. Spencer also noted that compared to the Xbox One, which is backwards compatible with more than 300 Xbox 360 games, it would be "a lot more work" building an Xbox 360 emulator in Windows 10 that runs reliably across many different PC hardware configurations.

Here is the exchange for full context:

There just aren't enough people on VGC to support all of the threads you make.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I really don't think it's a big deal. It's smart to never 'close the door' on an opportunity. I doubt it will happen though just like he says.

Anyway Xbox fans don't comment a lot because there are few of us left.

Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)

halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)

x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.

Great, but what we really need is original Xbox Emulation.

Though this makes me wonder if "BC" will be used as an avenue for M$ to introduce XBL Gold to PC.

hell if that means play anywhere for my entire 360 backlog of BC games i have and all the GwG every month I'd fork 40 bucks for that easily every year.... On top of the 40 bucks I put for my actual Xbox if needed... Well worth it for Xbox owner that had a 360 with a lot of their games in digital format... I never have been so happy to have gone full DD since last gen....

He said the same thing almost exactly a year ago, mentioned original Xbox games as a possibility too but only after 360 (assuming they ever get round to it)

There is only a limited number of 360 games that are very good and not already available as PC versions. No need for a general emulator but a best of 360 port pack would do the job. RDR?

I think the true question is, which x360 games never released on PC, and are they good?

I've owned a 360 since launch and have lots of games. Never understood why ppl get excited over 360 games on pc and x1. I'd prefer some x1 exclusives over a game in beat 6 yrs ago.
