Forums - Gaming Discussion - Nintendo Switch and Emulation

For last few generations emulators have caught up with Nintendo systems pretty fast. While emulator for PS3 and Xbox 360 are still in early stage, it will be a long time we see PS4 and Xbox One emulator. Wii, 3DS and Wii U got emulated during their current run. Given the weaker hardware its also been easy to run them in PC hardware. As for Nintendo Switch. Do you think it will get emulated in its curretn run? If so will it effect console sales? Discuss.

It shouldn't be hard actually. Unless Nintendo did something fantastic with their security mechanisms I expect good working emulators fairly soon and definitely a fully matured one within its lifetime.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I don't think a functional emulator will take that much, but I don't know how widespread these are going to be. Considering how taxing emulation can be (specially seamless emulation), how many PCs are going to be able to get it right?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Cemu can run Wii U games almost flawlessly. It might be quick. As for console sales it might be non issue.

You know all the Emulation that happens doesn't make PC players look any less like pirates, which in turn causes the porting of Console games to PC. If they'd just stop emulating maybe they'd be treated better.

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

Well, it can only run a handful of games flawlessly. And somebody definitley got a hold of a devkit that streamlined the process of creating cemu.

Wouldn't be surprised if it does

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]

It just matters how much did they encrypt the console.
Wii U wasn't encrypted that much except region lock, while 3ds's dashboard is encrypted so it's very hard to emulate that.
Hell look at X360 and PS3 ten years later they decrypted like 20 games and about 15-20% of the console,98% ton of games can't even run on the emulator.

Plus i kinda hate emulation,i'm ok with emulation when the Product is done no longer in Production then people can start creating an emulator for but while it is on the market no.

And we can say it's not piracy or anything,it is whether we like it or not.

How true.

It might get emulated but I'm not sure how prevalent emulation is in the grand scheme of things. How many emulators are downloaded on the daily versus console coutnerparts sold? How many of these downloads would have instead resulted in console purchases if the emulator was not available? Not easy questions to answer.

That said, I'm seriously considering playing BotW through a WiiU emulator. Would love to see a modding scene arise around the game.
