Forums - Gaming Discussion - The official "I'd rather ___ than shop at a Gamestop" thread.

I haven't shopped at a Gamestop since I was forced into it for Xenoblade on Wii back in 2012/13. Before that, I can't even remember how long it had been. And when I bought Xenoblade? The snarky, overly aggresssive hipster millenial decided to insult me because I insisted I didn't want to join their shitty "club"... or whatever it's called. He was like "Do you want..." and I go "No thanks, I'll just take the game" to which he replies with attitude "What... you don't like saving money?!?!"

Pure... rage.

I thought it would be fun to make a thread where we all come up with a word, words or entire sentence to describe what he'd all rather be doing instead of shopping at a Gamestop for our games. I'll go first.

I'd rather sit front row at a Justin Bieber concert than shop at a Gamestop.

I'd rather eat a full lemon than shopping at Gamestop.

So you'd rather die?

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

You may have a rage issue if something as simple as "do you want a card" and "you don't like to save money" pissed you off that much.

This. As someone in retail, customers like OP are just the worst. We're supposed to ask you these questions because it's our job. We're supposed to get you to spend more money because it's our job. We're supposed to get you to sign up for stuff because, wait for it...

It's our job.

When you decide to take it both negatively and personally, all you're doing is making an ass of yourself. One that every employee will make fun of and mock as soon as you leave. Hell, I've seen customers mock people who act like this, too.

Yea I dont like them. I hate the fact that they kept on trying to sell me on the used copy even after I told them I want the new one. The used version was only $5 less than the new copy yet they kept on saying it was a better value when we all know the used one is gonna have scratches. And the kicker is that warranty nonsense right after.

Fuck em. I use Amazon prime instead

What warranty nonsense?

The whole $3 to cover your disc for a year thing cause you know in your mind that as soon as u go for the used copy, you should get that warranty.

The used copy is $5 less but with the warranty, its $2 less

I don't recall Gamestop offering me that.  I do know that the used warranty is vastly superior.  You can return it in a week no questions asked, with 30 days to get a refund. Where I think new.. is just a week of refunds?

So you don't even have to buy the warranty. You get an entire month to find out if the game works or not - free of charge. Plus if you have the card you get 10% off. Which would be another $5 off.

$10 off, and a much better warranty - pretty good deal. Specially since you can just open the game right there and then and ask for a new one if you see any problems.

I have been asked at best buy if I wanted to buy a warranty for $3.  I say no thanks.

Well with the red card, I dont get any discounts...

And the point of the warranty is if your game dies within the year since it is a used copy, it has a higher chance of dying sooner.

And of course, its $10 off from a $60 game where as if you got a new copy for $10 more, it would always work and it wont have any scratches. Also the resell value would be higher if you keep your games in good conditions

Meh. I've never really had an issue shopping there. Sure, their trade-in values can be garbage, but beyond that I've never personally had a bad experience there. Though I haven't shopped regularly in there in years since I am.
mostly digital now, I do stop in from time to time.

Lets see.....things I'd rather do than shop at Gamestop....

Oh I know, not obsess about them enough to make an official thread about things I'd rather do than shop at Gamestop

I'd rather be a hammer than a nail than shop at Gamespot.

*crickets chirp*

I prefer Best Buy if I want to go to a physical store. I have one closer than me, prices are usually better, and I can pick up my games quickly without an awkward conversation or membership request.

Amazon all the way though.
