Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Hideo Kojima Shares His Thoughts on Nintendo Switch

Better than his polite way of declining to make a game on the Wii U.

Overall, I think he's right about the future but I don't believe a hybrid device is going to be the answer. I'd rather have specialized devices that can share the same library.

Now there's someone who gets it.

I think switch is a concept that goes beyond cloud on gaming.
I mean, in a near future when cloud is well structured and you can go anywhere and play the games, would be pretty good.
But in a future after that, in wont be necessary. Any device will run better enough visuals for any size of screen, consuming almost no batteries more than a cloud streaming download. Everything could be played directly on any device. Cloud gaming demands to keep servers running at high demand and are more expense(and would require subscription) than just running on your devices.

For movies and TV, cloud would be the thing, because you have to store them, and it takes lots of space. But games are space limited compared to movies and series streaming services. (I mean, Tb of games make you entertained forever, longer than 1 Tb of movies and series)

So switch is way beyond its time.

Yet he would never put a game on the Switch, most likely.

Hmm sure, watching Interstellar on a phone or in 70mm IMAX, same experience.

Well, It's the same pretentious empty mess with beautiful cinematography in both :P

So just like a Hideo Kojima game!

Pretentious emptiness works better with deafening surround music and field of view filling lightshow :)
I just have a hard time believing that something like Tlou or Dark souls will have the same emotional impact when played on a phone while waiting for a bus.
