I say Gamefreak would rather sell 15 millions on 3DS than sell 3 millions on Switch and moving 1 million of Switch.

Pokemon has always been on handheld, Switch games we have seen are ALL home console type. It's replacing the Wii U very clearly and Nintendo is stating this clearly.

Have you even read the OP?

Pokémon has always been on handhelds because Game Freak wanted the games to be about going out and interacting with others, and such. They wouldn't mind making a Pokémon game for a home console if that home console was one that allowed those things to happen - and the Switch does.

Also, I highly doubt Game Freak has full control of where they can put their Pokémon games. I'm sure if it's 2020 and they still want to make 3DS games, Nintendo wouldn't allow them to and instead force them to make something for newer systems.

And lol 3 million and moving 1 million Switches. There is absolutely, 100% definitely no chance of that happening within the foreseeable future. A HD mainline Pokémon game on the Switch would not only do very well software-wise as Pokémon always has (10m+ guaranteed), it would likely move a shit ton of Switch consoles and bring unbelievable hype around the system. That's just how it is.

Do you think Pokémon has always sold well on handhelds because there were big userbases? I don't really think so. Pokémon was always a big system seller, and likely the main reason why the 3DS has actually sold anything beyond 30m. I know I definitely never knew anyone that owned a Game Boy before Red/Blue, neither did I know anyone with a DS before Diamond/Pearl. The 3DS's first big year was 2013, which is when it got its first Pokémon game.

It is true Game Freak likes to stick to their current userbases for longer than other developers (such as Nintendo) usually do. However, they always reach a point where they know they have to move on to the latest hardware, and it's not going to be any different now. The 3DS will at most get the last 7th generation games, and then it'll be done.

Gamefreak will always control the main series of pokemon. Either way both them and nintendo are just minority votes in the pokemon company. When they disagree, pokemon simply doesn't get made.

I'm sorry but there's just a bunch factually wrong with this post.

For starters, the 3DS' peak shipment year was FY Ending March 2013 (so March 2012-March 2013) when it shipped 13.95 million. This is before Pokemon released on the 3DS. 3DS shipments actually declined the fiscal year Pokemon came out to 12.24 million. So it's best year was before Pokemon.

DS was also doing phenomenonal before Pokemon showed up, Brain Training and NSMB was in full effect and it was putting up record breaking numbers in Japan by mid-2006 without a Pokemon game. The idea that the DS didn't get going until Pokemon showed up is laughably false.

You never knew anyone that owned a Game Boy before 1998 (when Pokemon launched in the West)? You must've grown up in a pretty sheltered place.

Just like 3ds successor, Pokemon on switch is just a hint, not a concrete plan. Or maybe just the fan's imagination. Cos after all those pokemon star leaks, none has been proven yet

Its not fan imagination, Pokemon Company confirmed they will have Pokemon games for NX/Switch.

Would mean a lot more if it came from Game Freak themselves since they have the rights to develop mainline Pokemon games.  The Pokemon Company saying they will have games on the Switch could mean something like Pokken, Mystery Dungeon, Pokemon Snap, Pokemon Stadium or Great Detective Pikachu.  That being said, I'm mostly just being contrary because I also believe that mainline Pokemon will come to the Switch eventually.

Not really, they actually talking about how Pokemon games will fit good on Switch because of handheld side of Switch. Switch is handheld also, its very clear that main Pokemon games will be very popular on Switch also. Not eventually, but soonest is possible, I am pretty sure after Wii U Nintendo wants all big guns on Switch soonest as possible, so we are talking about this year on next latest, dont forget that EG leaked that Pokemon game for Switch is development and that is coming for holiday season.

The next pokemon game probably won't release on Switch? The reason is simple.

Nintendo and Gamefreak wants to sell games. Pokemon games on 3DS are selling 15 millions. There probably won' t even be 15 millions of Switch until end of 2019, if the Switch sells decently. It could be less.

The best the Switch can hope is 3DS ports.

In worst case they will release next Pokemon game on 3DS and Switch, there no way they will skip Switch with next Pokemon game.

3D Mario did 10 million on 3DS, guess they should also put the next 3D Mario game on it aswell, oh and Smash, and Mario Kart, and lolz.

The problem with that logic is you kinda need games to sell a system in the first place. Then there's other factors being the 3DS's limited hardware holding the games back and the Pokemon audience being well on the system already so new games for it won't move much hardware.

I say Gamefreak would rather sell 15 millions on 3DS than sell 3 millions on Switch and moving 1 million of Switch.

There is no reason to pretend that Switch isn't handheld in same time, even Pokemon Company said confirmed that Switch will be good fit for Pokemon games because of it handheld side of Switch. Pokemon would have much higher sales on Switch than 3m, even on Wii U we have 7 games that sold more than 3m.

Yes, that is true. However, it still doesn't make your comparison be any better when it comes to the argument of Pokémon on the Switch.

If Switch is failing then Pokemon wouldn't save it because the reasons if is failing would still be there.

Switch needs to be a success before Nintendo makes a Pokemon for it, otherwise they are losing money.

Lol, Nintendo needs to make Pokemon earliest possible for Switch in order to be sure that Switch will be successful, not other way around, Switch is way more important for Nintendo than one Pokemon game.

A Pokemon/ Switch bundle & I'm sold.
