Forums - Politics Discussion - Jonathan Blow Speaks Out For Free Speech

Whilst the mainstream media continue to fan the flames of ante Trump behavior and continue to report such events as 'protests', the US will sink further and further into chaos. This is all designed to get a reaction and once Trump supporters decide to respond in kind, the narrative will change in the main stream media and those events will be called 'riots'. Wake up, you're being manipulated:

I mean I partially agree with him, both people from the right and left both have very regressive behaviours but I don't see how that should shape his political leaning?

You don't suddenly go from wanting public health care to wanting it all privatised because the lefties on twitter are annoying you. Being liberal or conservative doens't mean condoning the behaviour or methods of your peers.

Edit: Having freedom of speech doesn't mean you get a stage at a University. I just came across this which is gross and is certainly enough for any Universities to enforce a ban on his attendance.

"While speaking at UW-Milwaukee on Dec. 13, Yiannopoulos openly harassed and bullied a student at the school in front of her peers, while she was in attendance. Although he likely did not know she was there, Yiannopoulos used her name, displayed her picture and said hateful and disgusting remarks about her. "

Legitimizing political violence is becoming awfully trendy. What could possibly go wrong?

Generalization much?

ugh, I hate this left vs right us vs them mentality in politics. I both like and dislike people and ideas on both sides and simply don't understand why some people think everything one side is good and everything on the other is evil. I know it's present outside the US too, but it definitely seems so much more pronounced there.

Really got to wonder if there's an opportunity there though. For a new political party to come along and distance themselves from both extremes. Firstly could they pull enough people away from the traditional parties to actually make an impact, and secondly could a potential third way and more compromise between left and right rather than playing them against each other help to unite people again?

Clinging to parties is part of the problem itself. Be an independent mind and think for yourself, be critical of your peers and actually engage with those who disagree with you. In terms of politics, the democratic party are not a representation of the extreme political left.

That's how it used to work regardless of what party you supported, but then again I come from a time when pronouns meant something.

The election of Trump as President is a huge blow to freedom and democracy in the USA. 4 to 8 years of living under the tyranny of a Trump regime will be on par with living under the worst tin pot dictators of all time. The unpredictability and volatility of a a Trump government will leave the US and the world on edge for the next  4 to 8 years. Hopefully Trump gets booted out after 4 years and saves America and the world from another 4 years of living under the nightmare of Trump.

Unlike what I've been accused of, I am not part of the "left". But rather anti-Trump. And as the days go by more and more will join the cause against him -and I hope it continues to ramp up. And I'll be anti-Trump until he either a. resigns, b. gets assassinated, or c. gets impeached. Also, Trump is 100% a facist, not the other way around. Especially telling with him wanting to "destroy" the Johnson amendment among other things. His people will support him but nothing they or their "alternative facts" *cough*bullshitfakenewstheyuse*cough* say will change my mind

What has he done that's so wrong? The only unpredictability and volatility I'm seeing is coming from the Left. I'm astonished the Right hasn't responded yet but you can bet when they do the media will be outraged.

I'm pretty sure he means he just doesn't want to be aligned with 'the left' rather than that his beliefs have changed. It's similar to how I want to have nothing to do with modern feminism despite being all for equality, for all sexes, genders, and otherwise.
