I still have doubts about this one. The setting just doesn't sit right with me. Some levels/worlds look amazing, and then it's like getting hit by a brick in the face when it suddenly changes to a more realistic art style.

There doesn't seem to be any consistency when it comes to art direction.

Because every world has its own art direction, which is something that makes the game pretty exciting, how will the next world look?

I'm all for variety in level design, and art direction to some extent. But going from this:

To This:

That's just too much, I just can't see that being a positive. You can have worlds with different art styles to an extent, but going from the colour pallete above to the one below... eh.

I'd much rather have every world be colorful and vibrant.

I see it as a strong point of the game, the fact that every world looks surprising and extremelly different form the others makes it more exciting at least for me and it does fit with the surrealism of Mario games.

Not surprising, that game looks simply amazing. Might be the best Mario game since Galaxy!

I may change my mind when I play it, we'll see. Not to mention it has a good 8 months of development left, could polish some of those rough edges in the less colorful worlds. I don't know, the trailer just didn't conivince me and excite me like it did many, it'll definitely be a good game, I just have a feeling it won't live up to my experience with SM64 or even Sunshine. The City as the Hub too... I don't feel it's going to have the character of Peaches Castle or Delfino Island. From what I saw I'm just worried it's going to be a misstep.

But either way I'll find out the end of the year.

I'm pretty confident that is gonna be way better than Sunshine

I really liked Sunshine though, don't really get the hate. xD

Is a pretty good game just a very questionable Mario game.

This likely happened so fast because Zelda spread itself between tons of videos and gameplay footage, and all Mario has is one single video. There's only this single trailer for Mario if you wanna see the game, unlike BOTW. It's also impressive to me that BOTW has an additional 7 million+ story trailer that will eventually probably make it to 10 million views as well.

Still, can't take away from how good Mario looks as well. Mario and Zelda are back at the top again baby lol

Mario 64 was a game I grew up playing and this game is definetly a throwback to that style. Granted there are better graphics obviously in this one, but Mario 64 definltey had many different worlds, with different color schemes. Not sure how that hurts the game?
