Forums - Politics Discussion - Invalid votes in Florida outnumbering Trump margin of victory

Mickey Mouse, Beyonce, Tim Tebow, Thor for prez, and even one vote for "We Can Do Better." 161,000 Florida voters failed to vote for president.

TLDR:

State officials released a report showing more than 161,000 of the electorate did not cast a valid vote for president in November. The rate of invalid votes for president in 2016 was more than double the rate it was in 2012 and 2008.

You can say this was a protest that none of them liked the candidates.

And?
Does not mean that those 160,000 would have voted for Hillary.
Same as anyone bringing up Johnson or Stein votes. Can not say that those votes would have gone to Hillary. I have friends on both sides that voted for Johnson for example. They basically washed each other out.

Sadly, people tend to take democracy for granted. Everyone likes to complain about the politics, and the politicians once they're set, but nobody likes to actually involve themselves in the process.

I've been saying that, and it is for that fact is why we have Electors

Usually when people vote for Mickey Mouse and the likes, they do so because they feel obligated to vote, but don't have a candidate to vote for. I've done the same a time or two.

Clinton's popular votes have long outnumbered Trump's.

New thread title "Invalid votes in Florida could have doubled Trumps margin of victory"

Glass half full/half empty. I'm tired of all these anti trump headline grabbers.

The electoral collage is part of your problem. It's not a solution for anything.

Pretty much this. It kills votes in states that are all red or all blue. I live in a hardcore red state and its tough to get people to go vote because they know their vote means nothing.
