HISTORY HAS BEEN MADE!

Fifa and the ps4. A match made in heaven.  Never before has an annual sports title on a single platform sold 10m retail.  But now FIFA 17 on the ps4 has.

Congrats :)

That's freaking impressive.

Don't see why Europeans go completely crazy for the same exact game year over year. I take this as a bad thing. EA will keep milking and milking the game for years to come. Shameless micro-transactions in every major game mode is a disgrace. Not a bad game by any means, but a bare minimum in terms of improvements, yet charging $60 each iteration.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

10M on PS4 alone?
PS4 really is big on Europe.

Boy, if gaming had a reasonable price here in Brazil FIFA could be pulling 15M on PS4 alone, lol.
Crazy to think how well those football games would sell if Brazil could consume them to its potential.

It's really just because it's a Football game, otherwise it wouldn't have sold nearly as much, look at GTA V, it sold 4M more worldwide and yet FIFA17 outsold it in Europe ...

It's just like regular football, Europeans seem to never get bored of it, luckily I'm one of the few that don't play FIFA :v

Personally I buy 1 fifa per gen.  I bought fifa 09 last gen and I bought fifa 15 this gen.

Probably won't buy one until the year I buy a ps5!

AHAHAH but in all honesty Fifa is huge here in Europe.

This is not true. FIFA has one of the biggest development teams at EA, and they start development of these games years in advance.  I wouldn't be surprised at all if FIFA 2020 is in development in some capacity right now. They actually make a lot of changes to the game each and every year, however, there's only so much you can add at this point that will make a meaningful difference.

Uncharted or Star Wars: which one will be the next 10M seller?

If I had to guess, I'd say that there's actually a pretty small amount of consumers that buy sports games from the same series every year. Probably it's just that there's such a huge audience that even if a portion of that audience buys games each year, it's still a lot. So for example, half of the audience could buy a game on even years, and another half on odd years. Doesn't necessarily have to be the same people buying the games every year. I agree that the game could probably be cheaper though, but considering the success, EA doesn't really much much reason to lower the prices.

Great sales, deserved
