Forums - Gaming Discussion - Nintendo addresses "weak" Switch launch lineup

"Some of those who have seen this lineup have expressed the opinion that the launch lineup is weak.....  Our thinking in arranging the 2017 software lineup is that it is important to continue to provide new titles regularly without long gaps. This encourages consumers to continue actively playing the system, maintains buzz, and spurs continued sales momentum for Nintendo Switch."

-Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima

I don't agree with quantity over quality and think its the wrong logic and will do damage to the Switch especially at the pricing level but good news about 3DS, I've a feeling they will be thankful for 3DS existence in the coming months. Personally I'd like to get a 'new 3DS' at some point.

They could launch all the Nintendo games in March easily (TO OTHER USERS, WARNING: SARCASM!!!) if there was a great third party support after that. The third party games are usually what avoid long gaps and ensure the momentum in sales.

It works really well with the 3DS, you don't get Nintendo games every month on it, and it still sells well all the time thanks to the other games. Too bad they have trouble with it on home consoles.

That's not what he's saying.

That's what I thought from the beginning they showed it. They saw what happened with the Wii U. And tbh, Switch 1st year > Wii U First year. And we don't even know what else will be at e3 and what games will be released in Jan 2018 - March 2018

That could be horrible for the sales of those games, and that's where Nintendop gets most of the money, selling games.

Yeah, because Nintendo games don't have legs, right?

And I hope you understood what I was really meaning with my sentence (hint: the important part of the sentence wasn't the bolded one).

Yes i did undertsood your sentence but that bit made no sense, in any situtation they would have to give space between their games so they dont eclipse each other at release, with or without 3rd party support.

What kind of dumb company would release Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Fire Emblem Warriors, Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 2 and Arms all in the same month?

The 3DS doesn't actually get that much third party support either, the Switch will get the same and better if it's a success.

The "we don't have much games at launch because we don't too much want gaps between games" is still completely irrelevant on a console with good third party support. I'm not saying they shouldn't put some gap between their games, I'm saying the excuse they're using for doing that is wrong. My "they could release all their games in March" was just an exaggeration to focus on the following third party support (they couldn't release all their games in March even if they wanted to anyway).

I edited my original post, it was too difficult to understand apparently.
