It won't happen. You'll get a Switch in the 3DS form factor.

Only on VGChartz could a MyNintendoNews article that says the Nintendo prez is "considering" a 3DS successor be considered proof that the Switch is a Wii U successor only.

Personally, I think what happened is Nintendo decided to continue with the Switch, even if some higher ups weren't thrilled with it, out of respect for Iwata. If it fails, they will have a backup, more traditional HH in a year or so. Now, if that fails, too, there are no ifs, ands, or buts, Nintendo is going 3rd party.

But great for Nintendo to add more confusion for potential customers, it always helps.

If this proves to be true, switch is dead... Nintendo strongest side is the handheld market, and if they create a dedicated handheld the public will most likely go for the handheld and forget switch.

Switch needs to be the unified nintendo console (handheld/homeconsole) and the full nintendo support to stand a chance, otherwise it will fail! Nintedo just don't have the power needed to support 2 consoles and get good results whit both products.

well actually they did right now. They are currently working on the 3ds successor. And as long thos device isnt out, they will keep supporting the 3ds. They said all this.

I didn't say that it was, that's why I said would. That implies speculation.

People here don't understand than a 300$ system with 60$ games and an online subscription can't replace the 3DS.

Nintendo need a sub 200 handheld. It's the 3DS until a successor or a huge switch price cut.

None of the Switch games showns looks like handheld games. NIntendo did not add a retro compatibility with the 3DS.
