Did the Wii U really only pull ~80k in the U.S. over the holidays? If true, that is a terrible, massive 88.6% YoY drop for the system. The Switch reveal trailer in October must have took whatever wind was left out of the Wii U's sails. It was already down 41.4% YoY for the first ten months of the year, but for November and December to be so far down that neither could lay claim to the best month of the year for the system (that would go to February, which saw the Wii U pull 70k units) is just disappointing. That puts the Wii U at about 457k for the year. Back in April I would have guessed the Wii U could pull upwards of a million units for 2016. Boy, was I wrong.

I hope the Switch does well to make up for the Wii U selling poorly. I think it'll have a very strong launch. Half a million in the U.S. alone at least. But it's going to have to keep it up in the following months. I think it'll need to pull at least 200k per month on average over the spring and summer months to demonstrate that it will be successful. Of course, even 100k/month would still be vastly better than the Wii U, but would still be very weak. If it can do 4 million this year that would keep it on par with the 3DS.

I talked to a few retailers in my area and none of them had new Wii Us in stock for the holidays. Apparently across the continent Nintendo was recalling units from Best Buy (maybe all stores?) right before Christmas, so that seems to be the reason why the Wii U sold only 80K.

Yeah, I'm working on it everyone! I apologize for the delay!

Why am I getting 'around the network' links in every thread?

The PS5 Exists.

ioi did a lot of work after some lazy months.
So for BF and Xmas period PS4 had, if I counted them right, three weeks above 1M WW, quite impressive.
And PSV went over 15M LTD! Vitamination!!!
Anyway, numbers still good, but sad compared to the holidays.

Thats shipped !!! So a few million PS4s are in stores, the 53.4 Million is sold to customers.

I doubt they got like 3 million PS4's just lying on the shelfs worldwide, especially when entering January. So my bet is that there are more than 54.1 million sold through,as VGC predict.

Its probably at 53.7m as of Jan 7 so VGC has PS4 way overtracked.

The official sold through numbers for the PS4 at the end of 2016 is 53.4M and sold 6.2M during Black Friday week and all of December, so LTD the week before Black Friday was 47.2M.

Also the PS4 hit 50M the week after Black Friday.

Won bet with t3mporary_126 - I correctly predicted that the Wii U's LTD at the end of 2014 would be closer to 9 million than 10 million. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=6673287

I wonder why vgchartz keeps on insisting that the Vita almost sells as much as the 3DS in Europe every week. There's no way that is accurate lol. I wish Sony manned up and gave us official numbers like Nintendo does for Wii U.

Ahhhhh I was wondering where this thread was. Always good to have numbers! PS4 numbers look spot on seeing as they were at 53.4 sold through as of Jan 1 so VGC having them at 54.1 7 days later seems pretty spot on to me. Those Wii U numbers geesh super bad....Vita numbers clearly have to be off. XB1 numbers seem in line with expectations.

Nice to have numbers!!!!

Lol, according to vgchartz the Vita almost sells as much as the X1! I really wonder by just how much the Vita is overtracked here.

Edit: seems like I already posted something similar 5 days ago lol.
