Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Switch online priced at 2000-3000 yen yearly ($17.50 - $26.50 USD)

Hopefully when parents see that it offers a better service than MS/Sony for less money they'll consider cancelling XBL/PSN.

Nov 2016 - NES outsells PS1 (JP)

Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!

If it had been 60$ people would have gone bats h*t crazy....
And now they say 20-24$ and people still go full bat sh*t mode...

Jesus christ Nintendo sure cant catch a break from posters on this site.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

Might have to do with locking Voice chat behind the pay wall.

Or needing a phone and an app to use it.

Or that you only get one game a month - and don't get to keep it.

Or the MASS amount of confusion about everything involved.  Yeah probably that one since no one has a clue what is going on, and Nintendo doesn't care to make it clear.

So what part of that deserves "catching a break"?

Why would you even need voice chat if you can't play games online?

12 SNES games x $8 = $96

What are you complaining about?

Well, whilst I am completely not in favor of paid online and I don't even imagine paying for it, this certainly isn't as big a blow as before

From what I've read so far about their online service I personally think it should be free.

But...i never cared for Nintendo's online as I find their local party games is where they shine so it's all good.

So you get 12 NES or SNES games a year for $20-30? Some games will even have new online functionality. A SNES game costs $8 on the Wii U virtual console, so this is not a bad deal at all.

You can only play them for a month though.

But indeed, it's certainly a good deal.

This is a good price. If Nintendo priced it like Sony and Microsoft, they'd inevitably have people making comparisons about whether it's worth it given there aren't as many games with online support (that we know of at this time). With this, it's an easy purchase for just about anyone.

If it ends up 20$ pr year thats less than I feared.

Thats so cheap that you kind of ask yourself what is the point of Nintendo charging? I guess that explains why you only get one classic game a month though.

Testing the waters?
