I'm sorry to break it down to you like this. But people use parties on PS4 and the reason why you can't hear them is because you are not invited.

Even if you are not friends with these people they invite you to the parties as long as you show some interest in playing the objectives, I have met several good players and amazing people this way.

This is not as hard as people are making it out to be. When I played FFXIV online on my PS4 or PS3 I just downloaded ventrilo, entered chat, and was good to go with any headset and mic. People love blowing things out of proportion though.

On the other hand, while this is not nearly as bad as many try to make it out to be, I do agree that it should be done through the console the same way the PS4 and X1 does it. There is really no reason not to and it is more convenient overall.
